Give me Newcastle over Manchester or Liverpool. Most players for those clubs live in Cheshire but the towns and villages have nothing to offer. Alderely Edge for example that has the most expensive houses in northern England is bloody awful

I doubt it's much sleepier than Ponteland.

Simon Bird : "supposedly now the richest in the world"

Realisation dawning on the Magedia

But all too many journos happy to act as fluffers for the mags.

Many of whom might be perpetuating a false narrative about an ultra rich regime and the aspirations they might have.

In the current scenario in all likelihood they may get another 3 or 4 pts at best through December. That means they could have approx 10pts . They would be gone for all intents and purposes. However many mags might still believe the regime are still gonna spend big in January In some sort of hail Mary move.

What happens amongst those fans if he Arabs just cut their loses and spend nowt ...

Just had this sent to me by a Norwich fan.... apparently its from a Newcastle forum

"I reckon anything up to 12 points adrift we can buy our way out of it. I know people will say no one has done that before but has another club ever been in our position with the resources we now have. Most clubs bottom are skint and looking to unload player for the drop to the championship. We are looking at spending massive amounts of money and don't care about wages in the championship"

wow!

Think we've all heard variations of this type of thinking

Sounds like he’s Eight Ace from Viz

The DoF stuff is amazing. How has the person tasked with running the day-to-day who supposedly made the whole deal happen been kept so of out the loop?

They will of course spend a fortune on the most expensive players they can get in January, just because. Since the day the takeover news leaked nearly two years ago, the consortium have basically managed to do the opposite of sensible at every avenue.

Under McKeag they were skint and plummeting towards the 3rd division. John Hall comes along and throws money at the club at a time when no one else was spending big money. They got promoted just as the PL kicked off and nearly bought their way to the title. When staring administration in the face, along comes Ashley who never carried out due diligence and saves them from doing a ‘Leeds’ or ‘Sunderland’. Despite 2 relegations, the owner provides sufficient funds to bounce straight back. Then the Saudi’s come along and all their financial worries disappear.

How much more luck do you want, though hopefully the Saudi move will backfire big time.
That's quite a decent argument except they didn't win the title, or anything else, and I don't think they believe Ashley was too lucky for them.

As far as this takeover's concerned, where do I start?

Of all the people who could've bought them they're quite literally the worst people in the world

Spending £305m on what looks like a pr excersise .... the details of needs and address immediate problems don't seem to have been fully thought through.

Worst of all...its the fans expectations. They're running rampant
With each passing game the reality of expenditure....that is what will be spent In January reduces

Looking forward to seeing the mercenaries who will sign in January. I won’t be shocked to see them leave when they’re relegated in May.

For balance, Man City's first ten signings after their take over were

Wayne Bridge
Robinho
Craig Bellamy
Nigel De Jong
Shay Given
Gareth Barry
Gunnar Nielson
Stuart Taylor
Carlos Tevez
Roque Santa Cruz

Arguably six of those were either flops or never made an impact

This January the Mags need to be signing the right players to fit into their squad straight away who have what it takes to get them out of it, if they go trying to sign big names to make a point then they're fucked big time
