My niece works at Sage ( software) she was talking about her Christmas party coming up, I asked where it was and she said ‘It’s at St James’, but quite a few people were kicking off about it saying why are we having it there? And funding the Saudis given their human rights abuses.’
I was pleased to hear this, most of them will be NUFC fans there.

Mine is at St James as well like. not sure whether i'll go or not. not because of the Saudi's like, mingling with work colleagues.

In his defence, Newcastle and the Northeast are amazing places. I hate the club and its fans, but Newcastle as a city has more about it than Birmingham, Sheffield or Leeds in my opinion.

But the real gem of the Northeast is away from the cities. The Durham dales trump the Yorkshire dales in my mind. Teesdale and Weardale are quieter and better than anything south of the Tees. Durham City as well, is more impressive than it gets credit for.

I live in Essex these days, my wife is from Hampshire. We agree that the NE has more to offer than. Where she grew up or where we live now.

Hamsterley forest>New Forest
This is all true but if you are between 20-30 from Spain/Italy and more likely South America you don't really care about the coast and the dales, you want the best shops for your wife/gf, top restaurants, good nights out, London wins hands down for all of these over the North East.

Also London will have direct flights to your home country, I know its only an hour to London on the plane but its still easier to sign for a London based club.

If you are just an average person earning a normal wage north east is great but when earning millions and you are still young youd need to be paid double to live up here.

Shes right about dim people though as 95% of presenters have been licking torturers hoops since sheikover

That will die down quickly if they're in the championship.

The narrative of the media has always been to hype up the Premiership. They make stars out of bang average players (St. Maximin is a prime example). They make a fuss over attendances in the Premier League.

If they go down, the Saudis will get zero attention. Which is exactly the opposite of what they want.

It delays the "project" by an expensive year or two and gives the big 6 another year or twos head start.

Good point well made.
Seems strange

Oh dear, this will not go down well....

Think that like anything it will vary from player to player. Some would be quite happy to pitch up anywhere from China to Qatar if the money is right, some wouldn’t like it at all.

You’ll probably always get the odd player like Mendieta who’ll find something he likes about Teeside and pitch up there permanently, or Juninho who loved it so much he signed 3 times.

Used to get a load of similar concerns about players moving from the south of England to the north. I think that was overplayed at the time and I think this is too.

Players lives are quite highly restricted anyway, during the course of a season. Most of the top players don’t drink at all, and while they’ll not spend all day training, adequate rest is very important. A lot of the European Premier League players seem to take the opportunity to jet back to their home country when they have enough spare time for the chance to present itself, and that seems to apply whether they live in London or elsewhere.

Really don’t think that the ability to put together an attractive city break brochure is as vital as some make out, although it will probably make a difference to some.

Turin, Manchester, and Liverpool probably all have more plus points than cities in the north east, but they aren’t amongst the most renowned cities in the world, and this hasn’t prevented their clubs from reaching the very top a number of times.

Give me Newcastle over Manchester or Liverpool. Most players for those clubs live in Cheshire but the towns and villages have nothing to offer. Alderely Edge for example that has the most expensive houses in northern England is bloody awful

They don't need to go into the village though. If you have them money and a nice house, you can be in a little bubble and not worry about it

But South Manchester has a eco-bubble development over 20 years to fit the needs of the mega rich. But really all a younger player wants is like minded individuals that him and his missus can knock about with. Their needs are not the greatest as someone else stated they often head off home whenever they get the chance.

Howe: “I don’t think there is any limitation on what we can achieve with the group of players that we have here. "

WTF
I think he'll find that there is.

Something seems off with all of this. They really seem to have no clue what they are doing. Most mags seem happy to trust Manda's process. Is there even a process?

Not really... if they're dead men walking and inter Milan are still in play for ownership

If they're are dead and buried why spend.

What will be funny of the toddlers at the club hissy fit the fact that they're not spending
