HMRC - newcastle city centre

Close Fountain Court, move them to Stockton. Close Russell Street, move them to Stockton. Close Stockton, move them to Peterlee. Close Peterlee, move them to Washington/BPV. I'd conclude jobs are being migrated North.

Darlington will get HMRC however. Teeside is getting significant investment in industrial and offshore sector.

Hence why I said there’s 5-6 years to plan for that…..

Which would bring what? A new drawing and model?
In fairness there it's got more than Cobalt, Doxford Park and Quorum which have similar size office blocks.

True mind but as a city centre, if that's the locations they're targeting it offers nowt compared to Newcastle - we'd all love to see it thrive but it's just not there - what they've done is nice but it's window dressing unfortunately
It's not awful at all. The only way it will improve is if we attract businesses to the city centre itself.

It is mind it's like any other run down town in the country

I completely disagree. It's not run down at all. I guess if people continue to preach that others will believe it.

And the infrastructure? What's Sunderland city centre got to offer that amount of employees?

It's reality mate Sunderland city centre is awful and offers nothing - it's a shame but it's been left behind due to decades of lack of investment
The town centre is shut by the time you finish work

What about darlington?

"The regional capital I believe stems back from 1500’s with a royal association. As such wealth has been pushed there for ever since. Whether we like it or not locally it is seen beyond the north east borders as being the regional capital."

1500s - its 2021 I am asking what is a regional capital and what that means. Like I said, get to the Boro and they would more likely recognise Leeds or York as a regional capital 'whatever that is' with their yorkshire allegiance. So what is newcastle the regional capital of exactly? Its self proclaimed like that core cities thing, all bollocks.

Quite a few things really but I would say it's the capital of what's now the LA7 (Newcastle, Sunderland, South Tyneside, Durham, Northumberland, Gateshead and North Tyneside) rather than the North East. Teesside is it's own area which Middlesbrough is the capital of there but even most of them apply for Teesside aswell but like you said they might stray to Leeds instead.

But things like:
  1. County Court
  2. Region's Airport
  3. Hub For National Trains
  4. Ferry Terminal (Netherlands)
  5. Largest Shopping Destination
  6. Largest City Population
  7. By far the most visited place out of everywhere.
  8. Region's Arena
One way you could look at it though is someone in Newcastle could easily never leave Newcastle in the North East and live easily. Someone outside Newcastle would seriously struggle to never go into Newcastle unless they're doing it for some form of weird principal whether that's for catching a plane, watching gigs or using a train.

Surely this is a wind up? People would struggle not to go to Newcastle? Height of delusions right there

Yes there is. Do you live there?

No but Everytime I am back it looks worse and worse - like I say the square and that are nice but it's window dressing there's nowt to encourage businesses to set up there - what shops are there? What decent bars/restaurants? The place is basically closed from 6pm

Thousands of people would be absolutely fine in Sunderland. Geordies have to come to Sunderland for a west end show btw or a stadium concert.

Btw you cant get a ferry out of Newcastle.
