I can’t recall a manager doing so but Jebbison was in the stand watching us this season and didn’t sign.

In my mind the Morphing of the two (Gateshead in Newcastle) into NewcatleGateshead started with the opening of the Hilton NewcastleGateshead and the joint bid for Capital of Culture in 2008 but in mind they are two separate places. The closest similarity I can think of is Liverpool/Birkenhead. Birkenhead had a glorious shipbuilding history and at one point was very wealthy but time has not been kind on it but you will find few people saying they are from Liverpool who live in Birkenhead. Whilst many Birkenheaders will be blue or red a large proportion will be Tranmere.

Whilst I am on I also object to Newcastle's claim of owning the label "Geordies". I am a Geordie (from South Shields) and not a Mackem and back in the mid 80's we used to sing Geordies/Mackems... John Hall took the label for himself.

No one argues that the Boroughs of Lambeth and Westminster (opposite sides of the river) are different cities/town and that the London Eye and Big Ben are in different places.

Obviously just an outside observer view so I don’t know the history of the geography up there but most people down here associate both sides of the Tyne Bridge as Newcastle even though they are different local councils (like Lambeth and Westminster are). If it is more complicated like that then sorry for not knowing.

13 miles as crow flies, 17m using Google maps walking, 18m in car paying congestion charge and 28m using Google maps 1st suggestion as it avoids congestion charge.
