you could have said the same about Bruce, and bringing Howe in whose teams can’t defend sounds like a potential disaster to me
 

The mags trying to spin this to align with their new perception of themselves is very, very funny.

Desperate stuff. Can’t quite believe they have really given it to Howe and deep down neither can the mags after the assumptions and names being linked.

Maybe it will work out, but it really doesn’t seem like a well planned transition.

To be fair, Bruce for me would be still here trying to avoid relegation but his position was becoming massively untenable with a large section of fans getting more and more vociferous by the minute.
The new owners coming in sealed Bruce's fate because they knew the fans were disgruntled with him and they knew the fans were not going to tolerate him, so the new owners did what they thought was best, most likely. Don't keep on a person who can potentially further stir up a hornets next of bile and further hamper a potential fight fro relegation.

This is why Eddie Howe is an ideal choice as it stands.

I don't think Eddie Howe's a terrorist and he does deserve a clean slate.

Yeah I think the Bruce sacking was more to appease the fans than anything to do with the overall running of the club. What it has shown to me though is that the boardroom haven’t got a clue what to do, they’ve had no plan or direction.

It all depends on what the plans were to start with and did they expect a takeover at this specific time or at the end of the season, maybe.
It's all best guesses at the minute until we see how it pans out.

So therefore Eddie Howe should be coming in with a total neutral and clean slate to hit his own ground running and this is where we all need to run with him and not judge him too early.

If Ashley was still in charge, there would be hell on Howe was agreeing deals in principal. It’s unreal how easily these new owners have seduced you lot, you’re like the Myra Hindley / Rose Wests of football. Lovingly following murderous bastards with undying love. It’s truly terrifying..

That may be correct. Hopefully it's not and they've just basically watched everything unfold.
Because you have to assume they've been scrutinising the club and the fans every second of the day to gauge the feeling of what's in store when they take over.

Newcastle United football club will not be an easy transition for many reasons as it stands due to everything involved with it.
If I had to stick my neck out I'd say the Howe decision is a bit of good sense because it covers all angles as it stands.

It saves a big name from potentially getting destroyed if the big name didn't hit the ground running and potentially shying away any other potentials in future.
It offers the fans a realistic acceptance of where we are as a club, at this point in time.
It also offers a cheap managerial position compared to the big names which means it also offers a simple bread and butter mindset to fighting relegation and even a potential same mindset in the event of being relegated to getting back up immediately.

If relegation is avoided by the seasons end then the owners could sack Howe and pay him off with a small compensation package and get in a big name with cash on the hip.

You could look at it two ways/

Is it bad ownership or it it a bit of clever management of the situation.
We're soon going to find that out.

For me I wouldn't have had Bruce gone. I'd have kept him till the seasons end, relegated or not.
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say Graham Jones appears to be more of the problem than Bruce but certain fans hate Bruce more for his Sunderland management than anything else.
This means means that anyone coming in to help Bruce, whether it was Harold Steptoe or uncle Albert would've been praised for any upturn in fortunes and any downturn would be handed back to Bruce.
Now they've seen Jones' set up they know it isn't the case but will not admit that because to them Bruce is a Mackem and a failure and a plastic Newcastle fan and all the other names that are bestowed upon him.

The owners were backed into a corner on this and had to act, I think.
Ashley was more clever. He learned the hard way in terms of understanding what happens when you try to appease certain fans who want it all now.....
And when it didn't happen he was turned on.

This won't be lost on the owners but the difference with these owners is, they have more scope to fail and put it right in terms of fan appeasement and will likely do so.
The thing is they're in a strong position as it stands because they've came in on the back of severe bile and hatred for the set up earlier and patience will be afforded for this season, even if we do get relegated.

Either way you look at this it's literally a clean slate to the end of the season and only then will judgement start to become more focused, whether it's an assault on the automatic promotion back to the premier league or the next season start in it.

The next sensible move would be loan players in January or cheap experience who can add a little bit of nous to what we have, as a stop gap.

There's nowt clever about it man, all the big names have knocked them back. Unemployed Eddie Howe is the only person interested in the job, oh and so is the bloke who cleans the bogs at Haymarket Metro too apparently, he's next if Howe changes his mind. You can then come back on here justifying how metro bog guy is a really shrewd appointment.

I don't think there would've been. I think you'd have a had a temporary appeasement and a short window of a clean slate to see if he could aid the squad in avoiding relegation.
