For all the mags can say they're happy with Howe, to the outside world it looks like they're trying to convince themselves. Given the people behind the takeover you'd certainly expect more of a statement. I said from the start that I'd judge how impressive their appointment is by whether they'd have come if Ashley was still there. Howe most likely would, sounds like there were some discussions before the takeover happened. It's not a sign that money is no object and they're determined to spend their way to man citys level. The fact its been handled in a bit of an amateurish fashion also doesn't bode well, they need some football people in, and quickly.

Howe might do okay, but handing a relegation battle over to a bloke who has just been relegated, and giving a side that needs to become defensively sound to a bloke whose last team conceded fuck loads doesn't seem the best idea on paper. If they get a new manager bounce it might be enough, but they've got to get a lot of points in November so he'll really have to hit the ground running

Directors are Al-Rumayyam, Staveley, and Reuben. It, in turn, shows a company called Ncuk Investment Ltd as a person with significant control. Directors are shown as Al-Rumayyam, Vincent Cheshire and Bander Mogren, all with a c/o address of Tmf Group, Faringdon Street London. Ncuk shows PIF as a PSC. This completes the ownership chain, which looks clearly designed to obfuscate any connection between NUFC and KSA. Meanwhile, there are no changes at Newcastle United Ltd, where Charnley remains sole director. So it looks like the owners are pulling the strings while not taking a director position in the club itself; the fig leaf, if you like. I still maintain that Staveley and Al-Rumayyam should be regarded as shadow directors of NUFC as defines by the Companies Act 2006.

A bit more digging reveals that Bander Mogrem (full name Bander bin Abdulrahman Mogren is COO of PIF.

Maybe they could also have debated Israel's appalling human rights record while they were at it? For the record, as I've already stated, I won't be putting my money into the club. I don't support the takeover in any way shape or form, but I'll not be lectured by proxy, via Hertfordshire schoolkids and their teacher. I fully expect it from Sunderland fans, you are our rivals after all, but from others... not so much.

Didn’t Howe leave Burnley because it was too far north for him?

Appointing a manager who is known for not being able to get his side to defend, to the team with the 2nd worst defensive record in the league, when he has struggled to move away from the south coast previously, seems like a well thought through strategy to me…

I’d go as far to say the mags handling of the manager situation since the takeover is as embarrassing as our handling of Ricky Alvarez.

spend £8m getting rid of Steve Bruce and end up with a manager just like Steve Bruce only slimmer as you couldn’t get anyone else. If Ashley had been in charge they’d be saying it was a typical Ashley/Charnley appointment, no ambition and not a big name.

The simple fact is, Eddie Howe is the new manager and he's tasked with getting this lot set up to handle the relegation fight.
It's a simple case of, like him or not, he's in the hot seat and has to be backed by us fans and in the January window if he appears to be able to get some kind of a tune out of the squad, enough to form a real match day team of never say die players...at least...but with proper coaching nous to get an overall improvement.

I'm behind him 100% because I don't see any other point not to get behind him.
He may not be world class or international standard or a big name on a pedestal. So what. We are a relegation threatened team and that's all we are as it stands.

Eddie Howe may just do a David Moyes at West Ham....who knows?

Certain fans have got what they wanted. Ashley gone and Bruce gone and now his backroom staff will likely be gone, apart from Graham Jones, maybe.

So therefore Eddie Howe should be coming in with a total neutral and clean slate to hit his own ground running and this is where we all need to run with him and not judge him too early.

Horror Fyass was also asked if the piracy storm surrounding the deal was a big factor.

She said: "The piracy issue was not an issue but we tried to resolve it anyway.

“They [the Premier League] tried to make the state of Saudi a director. The PIF had agreed to become a director.”

You wouldn’t think it, bit of a shambles in the boardroom so far and a manager with a rubbish win percentage in the premier league. It’s like having a time machine.

But a manager that is much more geared up for a relegation battle than maybe one that would come in as no more than a potential idol of appeasement and a beacon of hope and even expectation that would have the potential to become a major disaster.

Eddie Howe offers a safe run in this set up. He covers all areas, including a potential relegation.
It's not ideal for some but for me it makes actual sense.

You forgot to mention he's a terrorist & murderers sympathiser so you're wrong, he doesn't deserve a clean slate. He deserves dogs abuse.

Basically, yes but hopefully a bit better coaching style to iron out a few issues that could potentially ensure we escape relegation.

To be fair, Bruce for me would be still here trying to avoid relegation but his position was becoming massively untenable with a large section of fans getting more and more vociferous by the minute.
The new owners coming in sealed Bruce's fate because they knew the fans were disgruntled with him and they knew the fans were not going to tolerate him, so the new owners did what they thought was best, most likely. Don't keep on a person who can potentially further stir up a hornets next of bile and further hamper a potential fight fro relegation.

This is why Eddie Howe is an ideal choice as it stands.
