That's only 1.21-1.26PpG.
Bruce managed 1.09 at Newcastle overall, but 1.16, 1.18 in his two full seasons.
 
Even though he has a canny record he’s a very defensive manager which likes to counter, will the mags like that? They complained about Bruce but loved Benitez who were both defensive, seems like a short sighted appointment for trying to get them out of their current predicament.

Yes, not unrealistic really. Still be tough to get momentum in the December fixtures. Could look like a different team after the window but it could be too late.
 
If the choice was between Emery and Howe I'm absolutely delighted with Emery if that's how it pans out. I'd be very interested to hear what convinced our owners to plump for him over Fonseca mind. We had Bruce as manager 4 weeks ago, we could potentially have Emery in for the game this weekend....i'd have taken that 4 weeks ago in an absolute heartbeat. Not my first choice I have to say, probably third or fourth if I'm honest but it's a nicer conundrum this time round than anytime previously under Ashley.

Fonseca, Favre, Emery all appear to prefer playing with the ball, with varying degrees of focus on attack. Fonseca being the most, Emery the least attacking minded. Howe likes to play football on the deck, but perhaps isn't as competent a defensive coach as, say Emery or Favre.

Martinez is an odd one, he's not really getting the most out of the most talented Belgian squad in as long as I can remember, and I couldn't really tell you what style he favours except for the attacking stuff at Wigan.

I would say that that list if five of the most obvious candidates you can think of for a club like Newcastle. Nothing wrong with that, it's pointless trying to be clever when you're trying to rebuild a lot of the infrastructure at the club.

Obviously, it's risky either way, but if Emery has success this season, he's in a powerful position. Because you're going back to front, any off-the-field appointment is going to have to be someone Emery approves of. It doesn't really matter whether he aligns with your plans or not, because you're going to be doing things his way.

Personally, I'd have gone for Nuno on an 18-month deal. He's not a glamourous name, but he's shown he can organise a team quite well and his connections mean that he can probably work without needing a huge team around him in January. Stay up, and it could open the door for Newcastle to nab your Jiminez's and Neves's of the world come the summer.

With all the positive news regarding NUFC today, what on earth compelled you to join RTG. You are simply not right in the head. It is the behaviour of a coward and an idiot.
