Premier League clubs to force through new rules that any related-party sponsorships have to be true market value (this is in wake of Saudi takeover of Newcastle):

Replies etc lol

eplying to

So if they was that bothered about the takeover money why did they let it happen?, why isn’t there a rule that owners aren’t allowed to invest more than £25M per season, the rest of the income comes from sponsorship which can not be more than £XM per year that levels it all out

Get in that's great news

What a load of absolute drivel. Are you telling me if the prospective new owners had been the likes of that Mark Campbell who tried to buy us you lot would have been harassing MPs and having protest marches? No….the over the top push to get this through was because you wanted to be the richest club in the world. This has continued post takeover too with the outpouring of support for the Saudi state, wearing head-dresses, etc.

Well, you got what you wanted and now there is a backlash which your attention seeking tendencies don’t like because you need to be loved.

The most embarrassing set of supporters on the planet and everyone can see it. It’s been a fun few weeks so far and fingers crossed it continues to be an absolute shit show.
 how furious you are.

Newcastle fans were desperate to be rid of Ashley. Rightly or wrongly, we hated him and wanted him gone. When the narrative was that the PL were dragging their feet over the takeover the fans tried to put pressure on them. When MPs saw an easy way to get a lift they jumped on board the train too.

If the PL had dragged their feet over a US Businessman there'd have been an 'over the top push' for that as well.

Honestly, mental gymnastics some of you lot have to go through to maintain this idea that Newcastle fans are the scum of the earth, is f***ing hilarious.
You missed the bit where NUFC fans begged and pleaded for murderers to take them over then celebrated with street parties and tea towels on their heads when it happened.
You missed the bit where that sentence is dramatically misrepresenting what actually happened.

Give over. If we had any power in this we would have got rid of Ashley a decade ago.

It might be comforting to create a fantasy whereby Newcastle fans pressure had anything to do with the sale going through, but the simple facts are;

Saudis wanted to buy a PL club to diversify financial interests and Sportswash their regime.
Ashley was willing to sell to them because it's a shit ton of money, and money up front.
The PL only stalled the bid until the piracy issue was resolved.
The takeover proceeded because none of you objected to it.

Staveley probably convinced the Saudi’s that you lot would welcome them with open arms and you would do/say anything to defend them, which is all they wanted for their sportswashing. If there had been objections, they would probably have never came back after last June’s knock back.

Ah, you're back. One correction, the Saudis are indeed looking to diversify financial interests, but that is not part of buying newcastle. Buying 0.05% or whatever of Disney (now sold for a profit) is diversifying. Buying 80% of a football club is not a sound investment, even long term, unless a club with massive potential in lower leagues. Mm

Did they celebrate with street parties and the wearing of tea towels?

Yes or no will suffice.

You are the Scum of the earth. Anyone who agrees with this blatant Sportswashing exercise is Scum. The only thing in Mags fans favour is most of them are too thick to see what's right in front of their eyes. You Sir, are a terrorist regime sympathiser

I’m not the one having to spend on unreasonable amount of time on another club’s message board making up stories covering for my own supporter’s complete lack of a moral compass.

you know exactly how your lot have reacted to becoming the mouth piece of an oppressive state. It’s not about Ashley, it’s about you lot selling your souls for a sniff of success no matter how tainted.

It'll be interesting to see how they calculate fair market value. A one size fits all approach surely can't be used, it's something that varies from club to club. Obviously clubs who've won trophies and play in the champions league will encourage bigger sponsorship deals than a newly promoted team.

IMO They need to come up with a formula that factors in things like previous sponsorship deals, European status, previous league position, attendances etc?

There are existing genuine sponsorship deals that can give a benchmark for fair value.

They must really hate Mike Ashley to want the Saudis to replace him. Lol.

MSB killing on a mass scale, causing largest humanitarian crisis the world today, but Mike didn't get them and now they might get higher up the table.

They need someone who understands them lol again.

Got their club back, mind, so all good, and Fish still trying to rationalise with mackems.

World has gone mad
