At the risk of being political, we've created a situation in this country where any expression of discontent on one parties side will cause offence on the others and, as such, get investigated, discouraged or often just shouted down regardless of fact.

The new owners of Palaces opposition yesterday WILL consider the banner to be to their detriment so all they need to do is cry foul (and racism is any easy one to use here) and our ultra-liberal police force will be forced to give the matter their attention.

It wouldn't surprise me if the instigators of the banner end up having a 'quiet word' being said to them - maybe under the threat of being charged of creating a disturbance or some such (there's always some vague charge that can be thrown at them if the coppers decide they can't be arsed with the whole thing and it's easier to tell the plebs to pipe down).

Remember - PIF have A LOT of money and, in this country, money talks.... much louder than anything else.
The new owners are almost certainly behind the police complaint. They want to to drown out any hint of criticism of their regime as soon as possible and they want to intimidate others not to do anything.

They'll use the ridiculous complaint that its racism. City's owners have done the same. Its clearly not.

The police need to grow some balls on this and not be intimidated by threats from powerful lawyers which i also suspect will be prevalent here.

Let's hope the banners and messages continue. If we play them I'd sincerely hope we reveal something similar to what palace have done.

From the guardian today. Looks like management may not be prepared for the shitstorm coming their way. Already don’t know how to handle the most obvious first step of project black&whitewash, an ignorance for cultural sensitivity by the nay-shun...

It seems ridiculous to say but clearly all the money in the world and no one was capable of seeing the most obvious problems right in front of them.

It’s gunna be a a cracking day out next time we visit St James. Forget riots in the streets they’re gunna call for a jihad again Sunderland and all jump on the metro with towels on their heeds.....

“”””Newcastle released a statement during the first half of the match at Palace, backtracking on the request earlier in the week for supporters not to wear head coverings in tribute to their new owners, adding: “Those who wish to support the club by wearing appropriate culturally inspired clothing should feel free to do so as they see fit. We are inclusive to all.”
i think its ashleys last laugh
Ringing the police because the banner annoyed them - I'm still stunned.
What actually is wrong with them?
didnt ring the police when a journo was getting chopped up

The person in charge of PIF is

Yasir Al-Rumayyan.

We should be targeting MBS and his rulership not people that just work as part of the businesses run out of KSA.

Apologies, just catching up

Board Members
Under the chairmanship and guidance of HRH Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Board is responsible for overseeing PIF’s long-term strategy, investment policy and performance.

Lols. You might be right.
They actually have the best owners now for the whole world to see why they are so detestable as fans. Nothing shows them in their true light as well as the campaign to get it through and the whole “It a constipated against Newcastle BS pushed by them and their own mp”. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, tories of the north. Actually with their new political leanings maybe should be isis of the north

Most coppers would tell you the same... but the force is run by would-be politicians, as are most public services.

If they can get everyone to quietly move on and go about their business without them needing to get involved then they'd consider that to be a success. If it was me, I'd have the complainant done for wasting police time but I was brought up in an era where right & wrong were polar opposites and not easily gelled together in a blur of grey.

No issues with the banner or Palace fans, just like with the Man City takeover all the noise will die down eventually and even if it doesn't being hated is fun. I respect the small minority of football fans that are genuine when they say they wouldn’t want the Saudis owning them but the vast majority that pretend they would act any different to Newcastle fans do make me laugh.

There will be no further action regarding this banner. The police are duty bound to investigate a report made to them but at the end of the day , nothing said on the banner is untrue and if you prosecute the Palace fans we are going have to prosecute the UN who confirmed the allegations to be true . As long as you aim all critisism at the Saudi Government and not the Saudi people , there would be very little chance of being prosecuted for racism .
The flag should be passed on to the supporters of every team who are playing Newcastle.
This ^ I hope they get more inventive

Yes, but that's only because I have no morals at all regarding my football teams success.
