You’re being very selective in what you want to believe. The quote is as follows:

”So here's the deal. I'll pay £20m of it personally.

"Nothing to do with the club. Above and beyond the budget.

"Rafa valued him at £20m.

"So that's what would come out of the club budget. The rest, £23m – I'll pay.

"And he still didn't sign it off.

Now to anyone reading that, it looks like Rafa valued Joelinton at £20m but also knew he had no intention of being there the following season as he had already negotiated his ‘project’ in China and therefore refused to sign off on the deal.

My original point still stands, Rafa valued him at £20m, as verified by your quote. The fact the deal never went through whilst he was there does not invalidate Rafa’s valuation.

I could value a car at £500, doesn't mean I f***ing want it.
The point is Benitez didn't want him, Ashley wanted him.

You sold out Bradford at home one boxing day because of Charlie Red Pants propaganda, you would sell out in seconds if you became one of the worlds richest clubs. Every club would be the same.
To be fair the boxing day attendance was, in a decent part, due to the goodwill around the gifting of tickets. I've posted on here that I think Charlie had very little to do with it, despite how he tried to frame it on STID. Boxing day is always a big attendance, the team were doing well, the ticket initiative was running, Bradford brought a load of fans. Not saying I disagree with the main point of your post, but I don't think Charlie added many to the attendance tbh

Whit and Creativity of S.A.F.C fans is second to none so HAWAY Lads and Lasses of this board, do your best to rip the piss out of them.

I'll start it off.

Flogged on the Tyne........

Needless to say they're getting a bit prickly and want this to go away. It won't....ever
Jesus, that is deluded. Throw on a few "I've worked with" along with a few "I know someone" and people think their word is the truth.
Sportswashing doesn't exist, how far from reality can you get? Of course they are looking to put up a pretty facade.

 I mean, you seem to be operating under the impression that Newcastle fans are different to Sunderland fans in that regard. You lot have your own history of embarrassing and shameful moments. So does every fanbase. So lets not pretend that your conviction is anything other than petty tribalism.

If you truly, wholeheartedly, think that Sunderland fans wouldn't have been reacting the same way if the Saudi showed an interest in your club under Short, you're only lying to yourself.

Nope. Already shared a quote from Ashley that shows Benitez didn't even want him at £20m.
paying 40m increased your net spend, so it meant you were trying harder.
One of the longest "ya divvent understands" in history.
do they have a daily "we arent being sportswashed, honest" article?
