I don't speak for them, but I'm not so stupid to think Sunderland fans would be any different to the majority of fanbases. You're not inherently classy, you've as many people who're an idiot, a bigot, indifferent or moral as the rest of us. You're not special, none of us are.
Generally I would agree with that, however it seems to me there was far more outcry and backlash when we appointed Di Canio than there has been here and with the takeover and there isn't really any comparison in terms of actual harm done by the two.
I guess Di Canio didn't have the perceived huge upside but even some of the local journalists were pretty scathing about the appointment and haven't been about the takeover.

Said before, but there's a few factors there. Only bid accepted, Ashley the incumbent owner, the incredible wealth involved.

It's impossible to get a true comparison. You'd have to find a team that have had a hated owner who's neglected the club for over a decade, only accepting 1 bid, from a ridiculously wealthy group of murderers. So you have to use a bit of common sense.
I hope your not attempting to justify the campaigning?

That's nonsense. Benitez didn't want him and certainly not at £40m, even Ashley says that. It's commonly accepted that Bruce wasn't behind the signing either.
I find it difficult to believe that Ashley who is constantly accused of not backing bruce and Benitez went out and spunked 40 million on that knacker just for a laugh... one of them wanted him

I don't know mind. Young Brazilian, excellent reputation in Europe, £40mil... he probably though in a couple of seasons he'd go for £100mil, like he scored with Sissoko.

No, but you've people insisting that Sunderland fans would revolt against it.

I don't think that's the case.
Show me threads from your clubs message board where fans of NUFC are disagreeing with the takeover…no didn’t think so. Whether you want to believe it or not I can guarantee there would be endless threads/discussions on here if the axis of evil regime had took over SAFC.
I watch football for enjoyment, something that has been in short supply over recent years at SAFC. How could I enjoy something that is at the expense of somebody else’s human rights. When you walk out of the stadium joyous after beating Burnley, somebody’s daughter, 1000’s of miles away, is having a truck load of stones dropped on her because she was the victim of rape, somebody’s son is being pushed from the top of a building all because he fell in love with somebody. I’m sure if the atrocities are reported in the next morning’s papers your lot will skip past it to get to the transfer rumours section. Disgusting!

Ashley
Ashley said: 'I was so excited to tell Rafa we've got another one coming, but when Lee Charnley, our managing director, had the conversation, his view was that he didn't want to commit to the transfer until he knew what his position was with the club next season.

"And I didn't get that.

"Is this the bloke who had given it to me for the last 12 months?

"From there, the relationship deteriorated very quickly.

"I was personally very disappointed, and that's putting it politely. I was freaked out. I'm thinking, 'I clearly don't understand anything about football' because I'm all for celebrating and going mad and suddenly it's, 'No – you've got to sort my deal out first'.

"So we had another few weeks of correspondence and then it wasn't just his deal, it was that he thought the £40m for Joelinton wasn't worth it. It's too much and the club shouldn't spend it.

"So here's the deal. I'll pay £20m of it personally.

"Nothing to do with the club. Above and beyond the budget.

"Rafa valued him at £20m.

"So that's what would come out of the club budget. The rest, £23m – I'll pay.

"And he still didn't sign it off.

Maybe we would, but we certainly wouldn't have gone on the way you lot did with tea towels on our heads and making fools of ourselves.

There would have been people dressed up no doubt. Man City did when they got bought out aswel, there's plenty of zany people out there who love that sort of shit.

Benitez or Bruce?

In all honesty I think both sides can agree, Benitez is better than Bruce, however NUFC's performance with both were very similar. Whether Bruce had more money or whatever, the outcome was similar. I can understand NUFC fans liking Benitez and disliking Bruce, but the the polarisation of opinion is crazy... One was hailed as a god the other hounded from day 1. The only difference was perceived reputation and reflected glory.

It's mental really. We turned against Bruce after an incredibly poor run, reflecting on his performance with us. NUFC turned on Bruce as he was appointed because of his performance with other teams... he was never given a chance.
I disliked Rafa and the style of football. Always felt he got an easy ride and said as much on here. Some of the games when we set up to basically do fuck all were the worst I've ever seen.

I was through Newcastle one Saturday morning after theyd recently signed Mirandina and they were waiting for the pubs to open in grass skirts/Brazil shirts/skunk shirts/Hawaiian shirt combinations with those flowery Garland things around their necks.
