I said "If he'd been given the kind of freedom to build the squad he wanted (as he is at Everton)". I don't know how you couldn't understand that meant freedom within a budget?
Yep, changing the narrative to suit again. Slippery as a fish, your username fits you well.

Jim White's licking of John Hall's hoop on Talkshite this morning has reached new depths. What a sycophant that tosser is.
Couldnt agree more his tongue is so far up his and the jawdee nashuns arse had to turn it off afor I smashed fuck out of me radio in the van !!!!!

Any manager with as poor a record as Bruce coming in would not have been greeted with excitement.
Similar to signing a new player, if he's been good elsewhere fans will be excited to see what he does at their club. If he's been crap wherever he's been fans aren't going to be too excited at the arrival.

Nobody wanted Bruce to fail, but he was expected to come in and be how he was. Players out of position, always playing the victim, full of excuses, a pattern seen at all his clubs. Isn't there a Sunderland website dedicated to Steve's excuses?
I said at the time i hoped he would do much better than Benitez but didn't think he would.

The bad football, having a go at the fans, the press, the horrendous injury record (a feature at all his clubs), throwing players under the bus...
You know what he's like as a Sunderland fan, he's a dick and a poor manager.
It's right that he was sacked. If takeover hadn't happened and he'd still been sacked it would have been justified.
You're right. He was an unimaginative appointment. Your then owner had decided skimming along was sufficient, probably because you villified him after he'd spent to get you back up. But hey, you're Newcastle, the 'entertainers'. You only wanted to compete. What you meant was you always missed the heady days of 2 decades earlier when John Hall cupped your balls and whispered in your ear.

Aye, agree with that. I don't expect your fans to like Bruce, my dad's a mag and I've had enough chats with him after matches where he's said he's been nearly bored to sleep, but again benitez was hardly exciting. The approach to cup games was shit like, so that's another valid criticism of Bruce. In terms of spend, I'm sure a lot of his spend was joelinton, and iirc that was soon after he came in so probably wasn't "his" signing. I think he had relatively little to work with and did a mediocre but acceptable job. Right that he left with or without a takeover but I don't think he deserves the criticism he's had. Equally benitez did a decent job and had the pedigree where you knew he might be able to make you progress (which Bruce never had) but his job at NUFC was just decent, nothing more, and if I was a mag I certainly wouldn't want him back, I'd want a bit more entertainment after years of him and Bruce

i wouldn’t touch Benitez again with a barge pole.
My bug bare with Benitez was how people always talked about him using new buzz words like he has this ‘vision’ or ‘masterplan’

was it his vision to help relegate us, fail miserably in early round of cups, go on winless runs at the start of the season or spunky millions on dross ?

he had his plus points undoubtedly but nobody will ever convince me he was lauded for his past reputation and not what he actually did at NUFC.
I know I’m in the minority of mags thinking that but to me it’s fact.

Football fans in wanting better for their club shock

How many top racing trainers refuse to take Saudi horses?
So many wrestlers don't travel from America to Saudi and turn down megabucks in protest. One bloke who did go to a Saudi show from America last night, donated his biggest ever pay cheque to charity

Totally ignored my point.

Newcastle football Club was born here, and although their players aren't thoroughbreds they're getting all the stick for taking Saudi money and it's questioned which manager would take their coin.
In the racing world over here there is millions of pounds of Saudi Money swilling around but nobody is questioning the Jockey Club or the training stables why they're taking it and the general public are more than willing to back and cheer their horses.

The biggest Arab owner is Sheikh Maktoum, prime minister of the UAE. Nothing to do with Saudi.

I don't think it's as easy as that. I think;
  • Everyone (pretty much) wanted Ashley gone.
  • Loads would want riches.
  • Some don't care where the money comes from.

I think all 3 issues impacted the answer to the question "Are you in favour of the Saudi takeover? Yes/No"

I think if the Saudis had come in for you after Short there'd be great swathes of your support who'd be in favour of the takeover.
So you now speak for great swathes of Sunderland supporters, you should be a politican not apologist for a mass muderer

I wouldn't for one, Di Canio was almost a bridge to far for me, & I don't recall him supporting

The kidnap of a political adverisies children
Chopping up a journalist like chopped liver
Financing terrorist groups who were fighting British Serviceman
Allowing gays to be hoyed off buildings because they loved the wrong person
Women to be hoyed in Jail for wanting to have basic freedoms
Using famine as a means to subjugate 5m people

Interesting read on the Saudi Cup -

They own horses and pay a fee to enter them into races. Everyone involved from trainers to stable boys and girls are paid employees. No one is buying shirts with the owners name on or associating themselves with a particular horse. The owners are not receiving any cash (directly) from people watching races live or on TV or betting on the horses. In comparison Newcastle fans will be buying shirts, likely emblazoned with Saudia or Aramco and spending 100's of pounds on season tickets.

Happy to hear your view but try and back it up with facts rather than fishing bait.
I'm not fishing at all.
As I said earlier there is uproar over the Saudi's ploughing millions into football and saying it shouldn't be allowed and it is morally reprehensible yet that's no problem with them ploughing millions into horseracing. The fact that people buy merchandise makes all the difference?
The owners have stallions in stud here which are making them millions of pounds. They're also selling horses at Tattersalls for millions of pounds, that again is OK so long as they don't sell a T-shirt?

1) They started a grass routes campaign in favour of the takeover involving support of local mps, who raised the issues in parliament about how this was some conspiracy against NWCL ,she practically said “Yers divnt understand” in parliament.

2) They were actively against a pay day long company as their sponsor. Again a campaign amongst fans saying how it went against the traditions of their club. Yet they celebrate when it’s bought by a super rich tyrant. Someone who created a humanitarian crisis in Yemen by bombing civilians (they bombed a school bus FFS) bombed their water supply that has lead to this century’s biggest cholera epidemic. Had woman locked up and tortured for campaigning for the right to drive. Had many critics tortured, kidnapped or killed (most famously the journalist in the embassy). As well as a list as long as 50k of the Jee-Ordy nations brass necks, of other crimes against humanity.

Fuck the fan, self entitled wankers incapable of thinking outside of their tiny little worlds.

“ Who’s that taking over the toon,
It’s a monster,
It’s a monster ”
