Why sack him and put Jones in charge for Saturday? You would would have thought they would have an instant replacement.

As Sunderland fans it will be prudent not to tune into total sport as the whole programme will be dedicated to who will be their next manager. Our wine yesterday will get a small footnote.
Thing is, this is exactly the way PIF have orchestrated it. The whole Bruce saga and then who will replace him takes up the headlines, distracting the footballing world from commenting on their suitability to own an English football club.

The fans will be happy they’ve hounded another of their own.

Interesting the next appointment will be a clue to what calibre of player they’ll look to bring in next Jan, I’d imagine a Watford like appointment of Random foreigner incoming, underwhelming for them given the nonsense that’s been in papers for around 18months.

No surprise. It was expected. The first head to roll under the new regime

Has managed to get to 1000 games as a manager due to the following reasons:

1. Former Man Utd captain.
2. Has a lot of friends in the media who will always defend him
3. Always has his excuses ready for the aforementioned media friends to push, here it was because he was from Newcastle, at Newcastle it was because he managed us.
4. This is the main one I think, he's a lot better managing up than he is down. Was touted for the Birmingham job while he was still playing, eventually did get it. Has worked for Ashley, the nutters at Hull, Lerner at Villa etc

His teams play basic, pretty dire football, sometimes he stumbles on the odd good group of players and he'll pick up points but then go on long winless runs.

He'll get another job easy, middling Championship club would be my best guess.
the three promotions on his CV are the reason he gets jobs
Will steve be hoping journalists are still getting a ‘slap’ from their editors? After all, nobody predicted him leaving by mutual consent.
mutual consentjust means "we want you to fuck off..if we give you millions of pounds wilk you do it without a fuss?

It’s strange this. For all of Bruce’s limitations from his time at Newcastle, Sunderland and elsewhere, I don’t think you can say he or his teams don’t try
thats what i never got. do they think the manager and players werent trying to win? 12th most expensive squad even though they slagged him off every day but thats not trying? no, they werent near the very top but it wasnt that bad. they've just had shit buys. for example, mo salah cost less than joelinton. i know it was a couple of years before so there's inflation to consider too.
