even the Pre Ashley/Ashley Era split in this graphic just makes it look like those top 3 finishes were the outliers from an average finish of 11-14. certainly does not make them look successful at all.

Aye 2 spells of top half of the table (with 1 season out the 2nd time). They probably felt more 'successful' as they got into Europe through the 'back door' 7 times.

They lost the FA Cup Final in 1998 & 1999 but got into Europe even though they'd finished 13th both seasons. They got in 3 times via Intertoto when they finished 11th in 2001, 14th in 2005 and 7th in 2006.

Can't knock it too much as most clubs would love that kind of period but that period isn't as glamourous as some Mags/Media may think. It certainly doesn't mean they deserve anything unlike the shite they say and even Staveley is now saying they deserve it.
