I get that i’m critical and i hang on points and at the time i would have hing on the fact that Tyson had never defended belt but that was a fact for i accept a few reasons and at the time Wilder had defended against a rank of opponent that was improving

at the end of the Wilder was a easier fight to make/get to that Joshua as i’ve said and i dont think that can be disputed ! I’ve already accepted cherry picking wasnt the best way to put it !

Wilder definitely cherry picked Fury though !
We went through this the other week. You make out as if Fury had a chance to pursue Wilder or pursue Joshua and chose Wilder. In reality, it wasn't quite that straight forward, as Joshua and Hearn stated numerous times AJ was only interested in becoming undisputed and wouldn't fight Fury without a belt. So to face Joshua he would either need to beat Wilder or become mandatory challenger.

Joshua's next mandatory after beating Povetkin in September 2018 was Pulev in December 2020. Pulev became mandatory by beating Hughie Fury in 2018 and has beaten Bogdan Dinu (ranked 75th) and Rydell Booker (ranked 114th) since.

In what way is that a harder route than Wilder, Schwarz, Wallin, Wilder, Wilder?

Quick question, is Hughie Fury related to Tyson ?

I have a strange feeling Fury may retire, there’s no one to fight. He’ll not be interested in fighting Whyte, waiting for Usyk may take a year.

I see Whyte has a rematch clause against Wallin, stuff like this seems so unnecessary and kills the sport imo - basically Wallin needs to win twice just to progress, equally if Whyte needs the safety net of a rematch he shouldn't be fighting for a world tittle next, i'm sure someone will answer this but why did Whyte have a rematch against Povekin (after getting rendered unconscious) to begin with?

He won't get a #1 contenders if he loses and wins the rematch. There's a priority system for belt defences, next is WBC, with unification after, so if he loses then WBC goes back of the queue. Unification can only happen if the governing bodies allow it and don't enforce any mandatory challenges.

And the rematch with Povetkin was warranted, literally smashed him for 12 minutes straight relentlessly then a punchers chance sparked him out, and lost his priority for challenging for WBC in the process.

Its not about ranking Pulevs opponents to Fury’s comeback though is it ?!?

As it was said the other week Fury was given/took the quicker route to a title shot with the WBC and Wilder rather than ‘ earn ‘ that shot with other governing bodies which would have had him fight eliminators with Whyte or the likes !

some may now disagree but most would of at that the seen Joshua as a tougher fight than 1-2 Wilder

He was ranked though so it was earned. An inactive fighter doesn't mean you're suddenly demoted.
It was WBA/IBO/IBF/WBO where he was stripped of the rankings completely for being stripped of the belts.

Logically though, would you rather start at #5 or whatever, or start at absolute rock bottom.

Think we need a separate thread in prep for all Wilders excuses for the loss, started today with a broken hand in the fight apparently
