The Pep myth

no you’re just trying to not controversial

he’s done an absolutely unbelievable job

as someone rightly said about Adrian Durham talkSPORT utter shite

I usually agree with a lot you say too
I’m not. And if you actually read the post, I acknowledged he was a top coach. The question was about whether he’s achieved what he should have

Man City and Man u are on the same number of points with the same number of W L D.
Solskjear's under massive pressure and is all the media are talking about, Pep's lauded as one of the greatest ever and never seems to get much flack.
I think he's massively overrated, he's incredibly arrogant and really struggles with the signing and coaching of defenders.
I'd take Tuchel, Klopp, Poch or Conte over him any day of the week.

he has to dominate English football in the current climate with the records they’ve broken is really remarkable. Everybody spends money man. This idea they spent outrageous amounts more isn’t true look at man utd team for starters

I also like they don’t buy ready made stars, majority of their players weren’t wanted by a lot of other teams

And at the same time has also had to work against:
Real Madrid & Zidane - 4 wins
Klopp & Liverpool - 1 win
Enrique & Barca - 1 win
Tuchel & Chelsea 2 wins
Bayern - 2 wins

city dont really dominate english football-they won the league last year but not the year prior..an english team won the champions league last year.
city do sign some good young players yet to reach their peak..but they pay lots for them..and also sign proven ones.

He always sends his sides out to be defensive in the latter stages of it nowadays and I have no idea why.
He played with 6 forward thinking players in the CL Final v Chelsea .... leaving Ferna & Rodri on the bench, which raised an eyebrow from every City fan in Portugal and at home. That's after beating PSG 4-2 on aggregate in the semi btw.

He is a flawed genius, as proven again yesterday by playing Grealish as a false 9 for possibly the first (and hopefully only) time in his career.

I’m sure I’ll get tons of abuse for this, so I’ll caveat in advance. He’s clearly a top coach. This is more a “is he as good as he thinks he is?” post

it’s now 10 years since he won the champions league. Despite having pretty much unlimited money at City and coaching Bayern, one of the biggest clubs on the planet

He got somewhat fortunate with Barca as he inherited arguably the best player ever in his prime

look at his City numbers. He’s been great domestically. But he should be when you look at what he’s bought. The transfer fees are from memory, so tell me I’m wrong

Ederson £35m (one of the highest fees ever at the time)
Walker £50m
Mendy £50m (even without the news he’s been crap)
Cancelo £40m+
Dias, Stones, Ake, Laporte at a combined £220m ish
Rodri £60m
De Bruyne £57m
Silva £35m
Jesus £27m
Mahrez £60m
Grealish £100m
Torres £25m

there will be more. Probably only one looks a shocker, but given the money surely he has to win more?

who has he sold at a profit? Sane?

who has he developed? Foden?

I’ll get pelters, but 10 years since a CL. With that money. He’s not the genius he thinks he is?
Spends a fortune on players at the biggest clubs in the world, wins stuff. Who knew ??!

City have had a far more difficult start to the season.

City have won 3 of the 4 league titles. The walked the title last season. That's why he isn't getting flak. Solsjkaer on the other hand hasn't been successful at all.
