How do you feel about the Ashes?


It's the staying in their hotel room for days and weeks on end that makes me think touring a country with lockdown and quarantine restrictions in place isn't viable. A whole world of difference between that and a normal tour of training sessions, games against Sheffield Shield teams as well as tests, and generally being able to wander about.

I hope the ECB respond with "We know he's your captain, Australia, but you surely can't like him? By the way, Tim Paine-But-Dim, the tour's off so you'll be taking wicket with only people who like you. So that'll be alone."

I somehow have mild doubts they would do that, though.

I think that as well, paid very handsomely and it should be a absolute honor to represent your country, particularly in the Ashes.

I suppose what has muddy the waters here is the T20 World Cup as well meaning a lot more than 6 weeks for some
 
In the papers today the Aussie PM is talking about raising travel restrictions for the doubly vacc'ed. The country is 80% vaccinated and as he quite rightly says they have to open up sometime. So .... the sands are shifting as we sit here and maybe it will become possible.
 
They will probably send a squad over ppl who haven’t got families etc and know exactly the boring craic they will have to deal with, and it will go ahead

an absolute and utter wanker

unfortunately if you read the comments on Twitter that’s how they seem to feel

they’ve not played 1 test this year

we have played 12

we played all last year in the strictest bubble

we’ve had 130k deaths in that time, they’ve had barely 1

its beyond insensitive it’s low as you can get

the blokes a total and utter wanker

I’d genuinely be delighted if we refused to play these fuckers and their backward nation and backward cricket team

Yup. Paine is a snide little fuck. Acts the nice guy and pally on camera, but he's a grade A c*nt. At least Warner knows he's a c*nt and doesn't deny it, unlike this walking, talking yeast infection.

Honestly man, the best part of Tim Paine ran down his mother's thighs 9 months before he was born
 
I'm split between not wanting it to go ahead and a hungry England B team showing up our current first team by making a contest of it.

I do think it's a pisstake expecting our players to live out of a hotel room for 2 months over Christmas though.

Tbf though I don’t think there has been any issue at all with the hunger of the current first team, just other things have meant not as successful as we would have liked.
