Some of you lot on here

Below are 2 dictionary definitions of 2 words, often confused in football as meaning the same thing.

supporter - someone who supports or champions something. sponsor, patron. benefactor, helper - a person who helps people or institutions

fanatic-a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal with little interest in opposing views.

Might be useful for some of us on here to decide which is the most useful of the 2 for what must surely be a common cause.

YOU'RE WELCOME

Are a f***ing embarrassment . The same posters who have already made their minds up about LJ ages ago still try and stick the knife in as they seem so narrow minded despite the best start to a season for decades and some of the best football we've seen for years

Wether it's moaning about his subs despite winning or whinging about his tactics or picking up on anything he says in a press conference Why don't you give him credit for the football we're playing this season and the youthful exciting squad he's put together. Yes he'll make mistakes he'll make a load like any manager does but just let him get on with it man he's doing a fine job this season so far

This is a very young squad who will make loads of mistakes over the season but I'd rather have that then watch a load of old useless plodders bore me to death.

The club finally look like they have an exciting long term plan but it's going to have many bumps along the way and it's good Ng to take time.

The majority on here seem great lads and lasses and can see the path the club are trying to go down but a minority on here are absolutely clueless

 You're deluded, he's a bluffer......Hobbit bully is shite, we concede regularly, can't handle physicality and a fast press, irrespective of having a younger squad!

Gormless post of the seaason, so far!

Tbf, I have a lot of time for LJ and think he’s doing a great job so far. But these late defensive subs are really pissing me off.

They invite pressure rather than putting on fresh legs up front or in midfield against a tired opposition chasing the game and killing them off.

I’m sure I’m late to the party with this rant but I’m sure after 7 games he has enough data to see it isn’t working.

Good post. It’s been a good start and yesterday need to take a point on the road. Frustrating game but that is football. Won’t be the last time.

Fully behind them all to keep learning and to keep progressing. We’ll get there eventually.

I guess we’re all fanatics then

Sorry like but Sunderland football club should be absolutely mortified at the fact we let a 2 goal lead slip against f***ing Fleetwood? Doesn't matter where we are etc. This should not be happening. Attitude like this is why we've been down here so long in my opinion. We need the attitude of winners and acceptance of shite like this is, is not winners. Yes we are in the same league but with correct management and direction we wouldnt be. I'm not having a go at clubs who i/we would see as smaller. I'm having a go at us a club/ownership. Past decade has had its ups and downs. Derby wins, cup finals, great escapes. But it's also had the most depressing stage in our history and we should not stand by and just support it. But we do, (you know what a mean) you know why? Because we have class, we have patience, we don't have fresh bed sheets. Just remember however bad you think it is being Sunderland in league 1, you could always be Newcastle fan flying paper aeroplanes onto the pitch to shock the world, the nation. Roll on the next game and I hope we see them buggers next season. Stop arguing amongst us we all want the same outcome.

I’m confused are you having a pop at the club or not?

Good post OP.

We are in a healthy position, we didn’t lose that match away from home, scored two goals and could well have won it. We have a game in hand on teams below us.

Mistakes will happen. We don’t have a world beating squad. But we are doing far better than previous seasons. Let’s put it behind us and learn from the mistakes to be better next time.

I’m happy with this season so far and surely it is more constructive to the team getting promoted if we all cheer and support rather than crying on anytime something goes a bit wrong.

I think it is part and parcel of the role of a supporter to openly discuss the club and the team's performance. I am sure at times many of us (me included) occupy ourselves in thinking that sometimes we could do better than the current manager. Many of the pub discussions are a thing of the past so we now share our thoughts with the online world, rather than a small group of mates. This forum becomes that small group of mates to let of steam with or celebrate post match and so issues get immensley amplified.
For me LJ needs to think about taking of his midfield ball players who do not flap and panic when closed down and who are well capable of finding a pass. Also Bailey Wright needs to be his option of last resort so if Flannagan or Doyle miss the next league match he needs to play 09 at CB and not Wright. That is my managers input after watching an excellent 75 mins from us and a mad helter skelter last 15. I still think the club is going in the right direction and the club and team will no doubt be addressing those last 15 mins in the coming days.

Who made you king of the world mate?We have made a great start and the recruitment team look to have done a great job for the money spent so all well and good .However this is a fans forum with different views and that is as it should be so stop taking this forum so seriously as it aint good for your in many ways .The squad we have had over the last four years has been good enough to get us out of this league and it has been poor ownership and managerial decisions and key injuries at the wrong time that have fekked us ( to many draws to many fekking draws)......... I will nail my colours to the mast as i think Johnson could not manage the pressure of the last ten games or so of last season and cost us promotion and i do hope he has learned from last year but i fear that if he doesn't he will crumble again if the going gets tough.

In truth yes we are playing the best football we have seen for years with a team full of pace and youth and long may it continue and that's down to the recruitment team and coaching and we may yet run away with this league if we continue to play like that..However if things become tighter and the pressure is on i personally think Johnson tactic of putting on and extra defender and sitting back for the last 15 minutes of the game might become our Achilles heel and that is a coaching choice by our manager and should be ope to critique on a fans forum without others trying to shout you down .

I couldn’t give a shiny shite about the football as long as we’re promoted.

All the David Brent-isms in the world won’t mean shit if he fails, in which case he’s no better than Ross or Parkinson.

Johnson fully deserves credit for getting us playing some lovely football which is great to watch. He also deserves criticism for trying to defend a 1 goal lead for 10 minutes rather than trying to put the game to bed. We have the quality to just kill off teams. We have rode our luck every week with this bringing and extra defender on and defending the lead shit and yesterday our luck ran out.

You said we’ve played some of the best football in years man. Not even the best since we’ve been in league 1. First few month under Jack Ross we blew afew teams away including Barnsley. The football hasn’t been near that yet
I think we’re playing better now, and could be blowing teams away with better finishing. I believe it’ll happen. We should’ve been out of sight today, and we were much the better team against Burton.
The Barnsley game you mention - they were better than us.
That’s my opinion, any way

Might be playing better football but we have not been convincing winners in any game. We are conceding too many and not putting teams away. Early days but warning signs are there

If he’s deluded and LJ is a bluffer what does referring to a 5’6 bloke as a hobbit make you….??

Honestly man, this mentality that if you criticise the team or manager in any way makes you a bed wetter.

Yes the team seems to be generally moving forward, the squad looks better and we are joint top. The fact remains we hoyed a 2 goal lead away and LJ persists in defensive substitutions that invite pressure and cost us yesterday IMO.

The standard replies of "do you go the games?"
"Bedwetter" "I've had a season ticket for x amount of years" "happy Clapper" they are absolute laziness. Its not a case of having to be one or the other, the truth is somewhere in the middle, opinions don't need to be polarised or people labelled for having an.opinion on a forum.
