Craft Beer

Was in Sainsbury’s today, the Wild Beer Co Millionaire Salted Caramel & Chocolate & Stout was on for £1.20 so bought a few for sessions. Bought me first ever sour as well. Some sherbet carry on. I’m guessing it’ll be a bit shit with it being from Sainsbury’s & 4.7% or sumat, but got to start somewhere. I’m not paying £7-£8 for a one if I doubt it’ll be my bag

Sours are vile.

28 degrees here today, a Cantillon apricot lambic would go down a treat
Too tight. I'm doing the Toer de Gueuze next year and will be paying Cantillon a visit while I'm about in Brussels.

Is there anywhere in Manchester doing anything for Zwanze Day at the end of the month? Beer Merchant's down here are having a load of lambics on tap, gunna be class.

Doesn’t seem like it, which is odd. I think Beermoth had something on last year. My BIL still works for Beer Merchants (does occasional shifts at the tap too so you’ve probably met him), might see if he can get hold of some bottles :)

Oddly enough there's a Zwanze pouring and event this year in Hoults Yard Newcastle hosted by Beer Merchants. Would have thought that would be up @Ambivalent Squirrel's street if he can drag himsel out of the FCBC taproom.

I've had a sniff around there before, always thought it was just a trade place. Seems they don't do events like that very often. Might have a mosey up, might be in the area anyway ;)

Sounds good to me.

Picked up two barrell aged Jim Beam impy stouts earlier from Caps off, £14 a bottle like but they are 750 ml and any sort of whisky barrel aged stout are always superb , breweries don’t make enough whisky stouts, they are pretty much unbeatable when they do, going to keep one until Christmas and see if it tastes any better than the first one.

That’s a very good price for 750ml. I love bourbon or whisky barrel aged stouts, I’d imagine the amount of time needed in the barrel puts a lot of breweries off unfortunately. Drinking a bruery barrel aged cherry pie imperial stout, masters of the art The Bruery!
