You, otherwise why would you click on a thread titled "Willock"?
No idea who Willock is so I clicked on it to see if it was someone new we were linked with. The Donald era has really killed off football for me. I'm only interested in SAFC and nothing else. I'm a SAFC fan, not s general football fan.

A flash in the pan with his goal scoring record. It reminds of Stead at Blackburn when he was in contention for England, and we know how that turned out.

He's not a bad player but he's nowhere near the money they're offering. Arteta must have thought all his birthdays have come at once.

From the same guy:

Everton, Palace, and Southampton all cutting back this year as well. You’ve apparently just spent £25m.

You’re about where you should be in terms of wages. Stop f***ing whinging, it’s pathetic.
Pretty narrow thinking there.

This is just a load of biased bollocks 🤣
He is English. That makes him 20m before you even start negotiations. In a world where Ramsdale is 18.5m two seasons ago, Willock who scored 7 goals in 7 consecutive games, is easily worth 25m.

We agreed to pay 40m for Joelinton FFS so this seems like a steal.

Agree, tbf.

Have to agree with this but then I saw the original poster and whenever a player is linked with Sunderland, said poster goes way over the top with his optimism and comparisons, in essence he talks shit through red and white specs.

I reckon he's the fella that runs the deluded RTG twitter account. Probably posts overly polarising views on here for his content.

What he's just written about Willock is pure bollocks.

But at that price why is no one else interested? Plenty of clubs have money to spend and are a way more attractive proposition than a toxic Newcastle. For the record, when we were in the Prem, I used to think the same about nearly all our signings. Turned out I was right on most.

I thought big Mike didn't spend owt.

That would be nuts as you would have to sell for 50m just to get your 25m back. Unless it is 50% over and above 25m.
Ashley is many things, but he isn't stupid. That clause won't exist unless it's the latter. Even then, I'd be surprised.

Plenty of clubs aren't spending that type of cash though. The markets fucked at the moment because lots of clubs are posting losses.

Villa are potentially another club who could have bought him but they'd already spent more on Buendia (who in my opinion is a better player). He isn't a Grealish/Bailey type winger.

It is very odd for an English kid, with that record from last season, to go to a basket case of a club with apparently no opposition.

He got on well here 🤷🏻

I agree with everything you have said though. I think that's partly why the deal has took so long, he was probably holding out hoping for something else. Arsenal want to raise funds and we were potentially highest bidder?
