The Hundred - Free tickets

Why don't they make fours into fives and sixes into tens? More runs instantly, so obviously better, Oh fuckin yeah. A hundred divided by 5 is 20 and by 10 is 10. Perfect.

I'm surprised they haven't suggested changing the distance between the wickets to 25 yards. A hundred divided by 25 is 4 so that's brilliant. It would be harder for bowlers so there would be even more of those sexy runs. Ace. Ban LBWs because people new to cricket won't understand how that works.

I am surprised people did not have the common sense to see that people commenting on the game and employed by the tv company promoting the game were not going to get excited over a new venture.

And I'm surprised that anyone who purports to like the game of cricket could watch a thick edge drop between a couple of fielders, and not get annoyed at a commentator describing it is a well placed shot.

It's just stupid man.

We're sacrificing so much for this shite, it's so so sad to see the game being hacked down to base level.

Ahhh, but you forget. This new audience will have no problem picking up the LBW law, will know instantly what cow corner, silly mid on, short fine leg, the covers, gully and point are. They just don't know their 6 times table, the thick twats.

I assume you mean long 4 o'clock, very short 4 o'clock, short 1 o'clock, between 7 and 8 o'clock, short 9 o'clock and half past 8 respectively.

Well yes if you going to use that particular extreme example to make your point then of course.

You know the point I am making, in the fact of course it’s going to be hyped up to attract the new audience and to make it exciting, which imo, without a doubt both shorter formats T20 and the hundred undoubtedly are!!

That's not an extreme example.

I you want me to be entirely honest mate, then of course it’s hyped up and over the top similar as the IPL is and there will of course be times cricket fans will know it’s over the top, but the bigger picture and entertainment value means to me it’s something I can live with.

Also mate if you want me to be entirely honest many a poster had made up their mind to be a critical of this and we’re always going to find a angle any angle to have a go at that tournament as they had made up their mind to do that before they had watched one ball!!

I am utterly convinced of that!

There's a difference between hype and just lying about the quality of the play, and the size of the crowd. It's not hype, it's lies.

And I could say the same about yourself. You are so determined for this to work that you are prepared to ignore what's going on right in front of your face. If Pietersen told you that last nights game (whatever it was) was better than the 2019 World Cup, you'd look the other way.

There are happy clappers and there’s that
You can't expect these people to know a clock face, it's not decimal!

God forbid they start using Arabic numerals, there’ll be raging gammons all over :o

Well I was always going to enjoy it, because I have said for years I love T20 so it stands to reason I was going to like this as very similar.
The only thing I am bothered about working is a game that gets more people involved at ground level and gets more exposure to the game of cricket.

I really could not care less whether that is the hundred, T20 or whatever and will support something that’s objective is to do that.

As that’s the main thing, and I am not petty or childish to want something to fail in that objective just because it doesn’t involve a certain club or county!!

Oh, I see. Not wanting half the country excluded from professional cricket is petty and childish. I didn't realise.

Tell me, how is a format that is played in a venue over an hour and a half away ‘get more exposure’ for the youth of our region?

Or a different country, if you’re a young person in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall?

It isn’t petty or childish to want your County Cricket Club to continue to exist.

You wouldn’t understand that because you don’t like county cricket - so perhaps show a little bit more respect - in choosing your words more carefully next time - to those who DO like county cricket.

It's madness.

Just keep lying about how great it will be and how there are no downsides and everyone is going to be richer, and that all the counties will thrive, and loads and loads of people will take up the game. Now that it's here, just keep lying about how well it's going, ignore the empty stadiums and the actual quality on show. Then, well whaddya know, suggest that we close down 10 of counties as it's the best thing for everyone. And people still back it.

The parallels to the Brexit campaign are frightening.

It's really simple for me the longevity of the game itself is more important than a county.

Actually managed to catch a few games this weekend on bbc/sky I don't know if I've been unlucky or not but there doesn't seem to be many boundaries in comparison to what I've seen in the blast
