Durham Vs Gloucestershire - Thurs 29th July. One day cup

Only player who has played every game so far this season and he certainly won't be used to the amount of cricket is played and the traveling you do as a county cricketer especially at Durham.

Somebody had to bowl them and they are the most experienced.
Aye no real issue with the changes you just expect them to execute better than they did. Taylor was jammy hitting 2 or 3 up in the air that dropped into no mans land. Good game but we let ourselves down at the very end of both innings.

Ce sera sera, win some, lose some. Rushy couldn't nail his yorkers,it happens to the best.

That was my view until I discover we've now got a full week without a game.
Nor is he "resting"-presumably he's still with the traveling party.I
Durham logic🤔
Don't know! didn't see him on the feed and Burnham was doing a lot of 12th Man duties do he had been brought down from Durham. At the end he didnt play fir whatever reason.

Possibly why rushy doesn't play t20 either
Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, their good days and bad days. No one will be more gutted about the outcome today than Rushy. He’s an absolute legend for our Club and deserves our support through thick or thin.

If you want to blame anyone for the bowling attack available for this series you need to look no further than the 16.4. For all that I’m full of pride for the youngsters that have played these games and think this has turned into a great opportunity for them to sell their wares on the big stage whilst the ”superstars” have something more important to do. I for one will carry on celebrating that opportunity whatever the results.

We went into this competition knowing we had a strong batting line up but depleted bowling. Let’s not act surprised or angry when it goes wrong sometimes.

Bowlers seem to be exempt from your criticism of the team. Felt the total was a total that Durham could defend tbh
I’m not gonna blame our number one wicket taker of all time for his first bad day in probably 3 years at the club. Especially when he bowled well first up and took an important wicket (again!). And the other seamers were largely kids thrown in as we’d lost people to the hundred.

The total was just too light - when you are 210-0 off 35 overs, I don’t think it’s unfair to expect more than 335. Especially when it’s the same errors by the batsmen time and again. A combination of giving wickets away when in (especially with a new batsman in) and stupid ramps and flicks.

But his bowling kind of was to blame though. A poor performance can be criticised.

He cost us 5-10 runs too many. And compensated by taking a crucial wicket. Batting cost us a good few more than 5-10 runs. If they are chasing 360, then Rushy can go for as many pies as he wants in the last over

I don't blame Rushworth, I blame the captain for using him as a death bowler. He's never been a death bowler, he doesn't have the variation, his role is taking wickets with the new ball.

Which then leaves rushy bowling 49 anyway

Again, then rushy just bowls another death over instead
Nope, he had two left. If it's done right then Trev bowls 47 and 49, Van Meek bowls 48 and 50. It should have been sorted 8-10 overs earlier but he brought Trev and himself in tandem and it mucked everything up.

Matters not. I'm not going to be too hard on them, but there's a reason Rushy has rarely bowled death overs.

I agree that the batters were short on runs btw. But the bowlers today weren't blameless.

I agree on rushy, but can’t agree Trev bowling 49 would have went any better.

Of course it’s all moot if we’re defending 360…

^ this.

When have we ever seen Rushy bowl a toe crusher, surprise bouncer, slower ball or cutter? He steams in and plants an 85mph wobble seam on fifth stump, end of. If a player walks across his stumps he's got no answer.

True enough, we left ourselves short after the start we had.

Trev has got chops for bowling at the death in 20 and 50 over stuff, he's trusted to do it most of the time.

Still loads to take front he game, and we're still going well. Just a few untidy things today cost us, it's annoying.

I quite like the 16.4 taking away players, seems to have levelled the playing field for us somewhat, as we typically lose less players than other teams. Nice to see a few different players getting a shot. Shame we just don’t have quite enough bowling depth with a few injuries to coggers and Potts

Blame Rushy it’s allowed. Marty expected him to bowl the last over and Rushy would have backed himself to do the job. He’s a fantastic cricketer but didn’t execute today. The way you go on about Borthwick is bizarre tbh.
