We are way short

The argument 'Play the youngins, that will work' surely people can see that while some are decent, some aren't capable at the moment of long term football at this level.

We need quite a few players, both quantity and quality really.

That squad/team won't get Play Offs even.
Play the youngins works when you play a mix of both. Neil, Younger and possibly Patterson should have been playing at the end of last season.

@LukeJH96

Goalkeeper:
Anthony Patterson - Not tested, doubt he'll start
Lee Burge - Not good enough

Right Back:
New Right Back - we hope, the season starts one week on Saturday
New Right Back - we hope, as above

Centre Back

New CB
Callum Doyle - Only 17, I think he'll be used sparingly
Tom Flanagan - Inconsistent, when he's good he's good when he's bad he is absolutely shocking
Arbenit Xhemajli - Not fit, will he even play this year?
Oliver Younger - Untested

Left Back - we hope, as above, but currently we don't have a full back. Unacceptable really.

Right Midfield
Lynden Gooch - Sound, but will pick up injuries as always, often out for weeks at a time.
Jack Diamond - Needs to step up big time, not enough end product but needs time.

Centre Midfield
Corry Evans - We'll see, apparently injury prone.
Luke O’Nien - Never looked particulary great in midfield.
Carl Winchester - Ok as backup, can't see him controlling midfields.
Dan Neil - Untested needs time.

Left Midfield
Aiden McGeady - Class
New Left Midfielder - We hope

Attacking Midfield
Alex Pritchard - Currently out of action and missed pre-season, Huddersfield fans couldn't stand him.
Elliot Embleton - Had a good season at Blackpool, needs to prove his worth

Striker
Ross Stewart - Looks as though he has the right attributes to do well but needs to start scoring consistently
New striker - We hope
Aiden O’Brien - Not good enough

Based on the above, there's a hell of a lot to do. It looks grim at the moment.

No point flapping after that game. Johnson clearly stated on Saturday that that game was for the youngins and the senior lads that needed top ups.

Squad is shite though and needs some serious work

The second line is my generic point, I couldn't care really about today's result it just kinda reiterated what I already thought.

They will be nowhere near the team. Squad isn’t as bad as what people are saying:

Good numbers in the middle but not convinced there is much quality there. A lot rests on Neil to hit the ground running.

Quite a lot of holes without going into the quality of players you have listed.

Weaker how, how's letting the likes of scowen power Maguire leadbitter getting weaker when you've got talented lads like Neil embelton

What did he say it may as well have been
Players like Winchester, O’Brien, McGlaughlin and Flanagan are now seen as essential first team players.

There’s no sign of incoming full backs with at least some first team experience. There’s no sign of a striker coming in.

Doyle is here to play and looks the business. Pritchard was signed to be a key player in the PL for Huddersfield and it definitely didn't work out that way hence the dislike, we don't need him to be that good. Doubt we'll sign or need a new LM too with McGeady, Gooch, Diamond, Pritchard all able to play either side.

Definite needs for me are:

New first choice CB if Wright leaves
New first choice RB (O'Nien can be cover)
2x LB (Gallacher in and Hume to re-sign?)
New Striker (Shift Grigg or AOB, you'd ideally want both gone but we can only dream, keep Benji as an option)

Bonus option:
New CM - someone like Galbraith on loan fits the bill, if we bring another in I'd send Dan Neil to L2

New RB x2,New CB, New Left midfielder, New striker where in the world is Gandolf when you need him?

Weakest squad since we’ve been in L1 with potentially the strongest league.

What could possibly go wrong
Long term project even KLD in no hurry.
Happy to balance the books in L1 for now and pressure off Johnson. It’s our expectations that need to be reined in !!!
