Players like Winchester, O’Brien, McGlaughlin and Flanagan are now seen as essential first team players.

There’s no sign of incoming full backs with at least some first team experience. There’s no sign of a striker coming in.
McLaughlin?

They will be nowhere near the team. Squad isn’t as bad as what people are saying:

Goalkeeper:
Anthony Patterson
Lee Burge

Right Back:
New Right Back
New Right Back

Centre Back

New CB
Callum Doyle
Tom Flanagan
Arbenit Xhemajli
Oliver Younger

Left Back
Tony Gallacher
Denver Hume (Probably)

Right Midfield
Lynden Gooch
Jack Diamond

Centre Midfield
Corry Evans
Luke O’Nien
Carl Winchester
Dan Neil

Left Midfield
Aiden McGeady
New Left Midfielder

Attacking Midfield
Alex Pritchard
Elliot Embleton

Striker
Ross Stewart
New striker
Aiden O’Brien
Wish I had your confidence mate.

Got rid of too many.

Conor McLoughlin was worth keeping. I don’t think he let us down. Instead we have no full backs.

He was a solid right back but ge doesn't play the style of football we want to play going forward and considering he was one of the highest earners, it's right we didn't sign him up again.

Long term project even KLD in no hurry.
Happy to balance the books in L1 for now and pressure off Johnson. It’s our expectations that need to be reined in !!!
I can’t believe the project Johnson was sold was to spend a few seasons managing in League 1.

Every additional season we languish at this level is a stain on the proud history of the club.

If you could guarantee that the “new signings” referred to will be of a good standard that will genuinely improve on what we had there last year I agree.

As it stands now i think there is far too much left to be done and we will have to settle for some sun standard players simply to make a competitive squad.

I genuinely can’t see us even making the playoffs this year.

Wage bill lower
Average age of squad members lower
Number of academy / u23 players in squad higher

it’s going in the right direction and is a long term project. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

@LukeJH96

Goalkeeper:
Anthony Patterson - Not tested, doubt he'll start
Lee Burge - Not good enough

Right Back:
New Right Back - we hope, the season starts one week on Saturday
New Right Back - we hope, as above

Centre Back

New CB
Callum Doyle - Only 17, I think he'll be used sparingly
Tom Flanagan - Inconsistent, when he's good he's good when he's bad he is absolutely shocking
Arbenit Xhemajli - Not fit, will he even play this year?
Oliver Younger - Untested

Left Back - we hope, as above, but currently we don't have a full back. Unacceptable really.

Right Midfield
Lynden Gooch - Sound, but will pick up injuries as always, often out for weeks at a time.
Jack Diamond - Needs to step up big time, not enough end product but needs time.

Centre Midfield
Corry Evans - We'll see, apparently injury prone.
Luke O’Nien - Never looked particulary great in midfield.
Carl Winchester - Ok as backup, can't see him controlling midfields.
Dan Neil - Untested needs time.

Left Midfield
Aiden McGeady - Class
New Left Midfielder - We hope

Attacking Midfield
Alex Pritchard - Currently out of action and missed pre-season, Huddersfield fans couldn't stand him.
Elliot Embleton - Had a good season at Blackpool, needs to prove his worth

Striker
Ross Stewart - Looks as though he has the right attributes to do well but needs to start scoring consistently
New striker - We hope
Aiden O’Brien - Not good enough

Based on the above, there's a hell of a lot to do. It looks grim at the moment.
It’s a shame that all of that is true.

The squad is miles off where it needs to be. If the club don’t get some quality in and quickly it’s going to be a shit show of a season.
Correct. People on here desperate to convince themselves otherwise though.
The squad as it currently stands will struggle to finish in the top 10 imo.

Far too much hope is being placed on unproven young players who are basically being mixed in with the same failures who haven’t managed to get us promoted for the last 3 seasons.

Imagine Stewart gets crocked. AOB lone striker😳
Good job there's 5 and a half weeks left of the window geezer
Aye let’s give our promotion rivals a few points head start.
