The Hundred - Free tickets

Back on the train home now utterly drenched. That's the most rain I have ever seen in London. Not sure what the ticket refund rules are but hopefully will get something back.

Only saw the second half of the women's game before the heaven's opened so it's hard to make any judgement on my first live T100 game (actually, my first live sport since March last year).

Appears to be a lot of people on here who think the 💯 is crap who continue to be watching quite a bit of it. I have watched the Warwickshire v Notts RL cup today and a enjoyable game of cricket. Lovely innings from Hameed and a decent knock from Yates. And the mackem born spinner with the double barreled name continues to look a tidy county cricketer.

That's the big point to me, they've seen the IPL become a huge money spinner from a game we invented but failed to properly capitalize on. Thing is weather in Australia and India is also more conducive to cricket and being able to have larger crowds due to that. Fact is nothing was overly wrong with the T20 but they could have made tweaks to compete with these competitions. My worry is solely about Durham as I can see potentially down the line being 8 clubs to play all formats and every one else demoted to a minor county.
At the moment it's ruining the other competitions for fans, not being able to see their own players while the are gallivanting in exhibition cricket
Read a good article on the BBL a couple of years ago.
Points I seemed to remember are that all the games take place in the Aussies 6 week school holidays which gets more families in adding to merchandise sales.
Another was the fact that 76% of the countries population can get to a BB game and get home reasonably quickly afterwards.

I admit I haven’t read anything re the Hundred but obviously all the games are taking place at all the usual suspects grounds. I’ve no idea what it means to all the counties

I was prepared to watch it tonight but switched it off before it started when Butcher started talking shite about it being "bedlam". Out for a walk now down Hartlepool.

Anarr! I been boycotting it, when to be honest, I've wanted to watch it (when there's no other cricket on tele)

Let them crack on with it if people want to go and watch that type of cricket then fair enough. The worrying thing for me is watching the match at Edgbaston on the stream and it looked like there was nobody there.
As far as our domestic cricket goes as long as there is test match cricket and international 50 over cricket it will be played at domestic level.

One big thing with the BBL is that they actually added two teams to their normal number (of states), which gets shamefully overlooked whenever knackers in this country cry out for a franchise based game over here.

Right then, with the Durham match abandoned I managed about 30 minutes before switching off.

So it's T20 with extra hype. They've imported the terrible commentary blindness from the IPL where miscues are 'tremendous shots' if they happen to beat the field, and everything is magnificent. And they don't seem to be able to spot that the ground is nowhere near full.

Was it worth taking cricket away from half the country for this?
