4 more weeks of lockdown confirmed - Freedom day scrapped

I think Euros football might have something to do with it too. I think government shit themselves when they realised that Wembley was due to go from 22k to 80 odd k literally overnight. With hindsight that was never going to happen imo.

It would be a LOT better if it did happen. Those 58K (well, 68K) people who would have been at Wembley will be the most passionate of England fans and will likely instead now have a huge gathering in their home, especially if England are involved. Better being in the well ventilated stadium than poorly ventilated house If it’s raining.

Eh? You're the one that's always banging on about stadiums never full ever again. Strange fella you mate

I don’t think they will be, but in terms of viral transmission, it could be more dangerous especially now most of the public are very lax on the household mixing rules. Having a limited crowd in Wembley will be counterproductive, if indeed this is still about cutting infection rates.

I'm happy to let them have this 4 week extension personally. 4 weeks to see what happens admission wise, same with the number of deaths. It also gives us another 4 weeks which should see all over 40's double jabbed and close to full protection (ignoring anti vax nutters).
If everything stays around the levels they are at now and they extend again I will be moving into the "f**k you" camp on the 19th of July, simple as that.

They also need to extend furlough for those shat on by the extension, performing arts and the like other wise it's plainly unfair.

"Government experts say hospitalisations should be slashed by between half and a third as a result, preventing 'thousands' of deaths. Modellers have indicated that otherwise hospital admissions could hit 2,000, with 250 or even 500 deaths a day possible" 😉😉 You can see why they had to extend it with forecasts like that

What do you think your NI is used for?

It goes into a big pot with all the other taxes.
Do you believe the cost of private health insurance will be equivalent to the NI contributions on the average wage?
Privatising the NHS will be a disaster for the working class.
What do you think your NI is used for?
This is the cost of healthcare in the USA.

Hows he got this wrong ? You may recall, we were told 21st 'at the earliest' it was never a deadline
Pretty sure that’s a reference to the timing of putting India on the red list.

Im no Tory and I think that some of the decision making and in-house dealings need to be investigated but let’s be fair, the government haven’t gotten everything wrong, as some are suggesting.

Ok so why seen the States able to open everything up and we're not?

I’ll be honest, I’ve not followed their progress or decision making very closely. As I alluded to elsewhere, the only reason I know they’re easing off is because they’ve had full sports stadiums.

Boris can't get anything right on here when it comes to Coronavirus as if he opened up there'd a group moaning about Delta or if he done it in 4 weeks like now people moan that it's too long. Can't win for him.

Would say I feel sorry for him but he's a tosser so what a pity for him.

Isnt the argument about outdoor stadiums that it's not the event itself but rather the crowding on public transport & pubs beforehand?. Wimbledon centre court only has a capacity of 15k
Problem with that is, even the ‘process’ is massively flawed. I know a lad who was at Wembley on Sunday, he had to get a test 48 hours before the game and provide evidence upon entry to the ground he’d tested negative. In the 48 hours between taking the test and entering the ground he could’ve come into contact with thousands of people. He could so easily have been infected at the game and the only ‘control measure’ being implemented was a test result for 48 hours previous.

Predicted this since it was announced, and as it isn't a backwards step, if you want to call it a 'roadmap' then to the community in general this is just a short lane closure. Oh and 'freedom day' FFS

Absolutely. It's a balance of probably.

Your car can pass MOT'd one day, then break down & fail 2 days later
