2 jabs and still get hit with Covid

Lad at work and his wife both had the 2 jabs , yet last week they were struck down with Covid , reckons he’s been totally wiped out for past 5 days , no energy , lost taste and smell

thought the whole point of the second jab was that covid would have little or no impact ?

any other posters know anyone who has had Covid despite having two jabs ?
 


The vaccines aren't perfect - sadly, no vaccination is, and the evidence from trials and now the real world is that a small percentage of people who've had both jabs, who get COVID will still end up with significant symptoms, and some of those will be hospitalised and die.

I think, much like the golden date of June 21, some sources have pushed vaccines as meaning nobody will ever be unwell again. It is a rather slim minority of people though.

To be expected, the claim was never made that it is 100% effective.

it does, for 99% of the people who get it

there's probably thousands of jabbed people who have contracted the virus and not even know about it.

Is he dead ? Is he on life support ? No one ever told us that the vaccination would be 100% effective on infections .
 
I was reading about that zoe covid study and basically numbers vaccinated getting covid were very low. But it does happen. The main thing they seemed to report those vaccinated with covid were producing fewer symptoms and for a shorter amount of time.

So the vaccine probably is working on your work mate, just not as well as it is for many others, but has probably prevented him from being in a serious pickle with it.
 
Just as an adage to this.

I’m fully vaccinated + 3 weeks. Tested positive today.
Isolation it is - no symptoms like - was in contact with someone who got it. This is my second time with it now
 
Christ..this measn people attending football matches are going to spread it again as they have been vaccinated, got it again..maybe no symptoms and the infected numbers will go through the roof again.

Thousands contract Spanish flu every year, and don't know about it, talk to someone old or ill and kill them...but it's not called Covid.

It's too little data to know what it means. A lot of people who have had both doses are the most clinically vulnerable in society.

It amounts to 12 people, clearly it seems possible that 12 already vulnerable people could have died within 28 days of a positive test.
