Malan has big scores the last few games he’s played in county championship including double ton last time out

Would go for Foakes over Lawrence, Buttler can play as a batsman again
 
I must admit these days I think the T20 stuff has turned my head away from test match cricket. Was a time where I'd be really annoyed by events like today but now it just gets waved through. And there's no way I'd sit through a test match on TV any more. That said, I can't think of many better days out than actually being at a test match on a sunny day.
 
I know it’s almost a third XI, but we really are a shocking batting outfit. Stokes and Buttler will improve the top 7 but there needs to be some deep and potentially radical thinking about the top 6 for the rest of the year. Malan should be in contention and we need a number three as Crawley is dining out on a double hundred on a flat deck last year.
