RIP Ray Heslop

Nathan Gunn

Midfield
Unfortunately Ray passed on Sunday evening just gone. Ray was a regular running the away buses for SAFC Supporters association and had been following the lads home and away since before many of us were born. The trips away wont ever be the same without Ray making his way down the bus with his football cards and raffle tickets raising money for the SAFCSA. I'm sure he will be well known to a lot of people on here so let's hear your stories below.

We've lost a good one. RIP Ray x

would he have had a brother named Ian by any chance? Im not on a wind up and I dont mean theHIGNFY guy..its just I know an Ian heslop from the north east?

A totally selfless individual, who sacrificed his own day to improve other peoples.

A pleasure to be in his company, in my younger days, travelling to away matches.

In short, a fantastic man and gentleman!

RIP, Ray!

My First away game was on Ray's bus to Bristol City 30th Oct 1993... It was a rites of passage going on safcsa before progressing to beer buses! He was a canny bloke... All the legends on that bus - Ray, Billy simmons, Les picked up from Billingham from his parents 3 wheeler - some happy memories going on safcsa with Ray at the front! Rip Ray!!!

Sad to read this about Ray.

I knew him from the away games before I played for his Sunday morning team in South Shields - early 1980s

A lovely bloke who always had time for a chat in the SAFCSA shop

RIP

Me and my best mate traveled on his bus with the Safc supporters for years during the Peter Reid successful years. A true gentleman and will be sadly missed. RIP Ray

Had many chats with Ray over the years when I used to help steward the ALS away coach. Sunderland daft and an all round pleasant fella.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

RIP Ray
