Robinson suspended

Maybe fine him or send him on a course, nowt more. He hasn't killed anyone or sexually assaulted anyone.

Folk offended by everything these days, Dread to think where we'll be at in 10 years time, frightening. Be a sackable offence for admitted to farting in your own home soon
That's what will probably happen anyway, people are offended by his tweets fair play

I'm not suggesting what he tweeted was acceptable....... it wasn't but it was 8-9 year ago. I've laughed at some shocking things, again I challenge anyone on here to say they haven't, I can guarentee we have all had "borderline" jokes sent to our mobile phones/facebook. I am a big fan of Only Fools and Horses, and I recall 2 episodes one which says "Turbanator" and the other "P**i Shop" - Does that mean I'm racist for laughing and continuing to watch it for years after?

Too many apparent angels in this country.

We would all be in "education rehab" if we were all honest with ourselves about our past behaviours.

ECB aren't exactly clean either,
You can’t really compare the 1970s and 80s with 2012-14, the world is very very different now.

He will miss a match. And then I am sure he will be back.

The chances are if he is saying that stuff in tweets he's been saying much worse amongst his social circle. All it takes is one of them willing to spill the beans for a few quid. Imagine the furore aimed at the ECB if that was the case. This is definitely the right course of action taken by the ECB imo
Not necessarily. The tweets were 8 years ago mate.

I was ridiculously immature at 17, and posted similar shit on twitter (maybe not the stuff about hanging oneself, mind).

You'd never hear or see me utter anything like it now.

People grow up at different stages.
#onon
#justsaying

Arrrgh make it stop ;)
Mate, I say Corr blimey, wear a flat cap and my first job was on a market stall...

So people shouldn't be offended by what he said people weren't aware obviously

They're entitled to be offended but I find it odd how nobody was offended for the last 8-9 years. Its as though being offended is the latest "fashion statement bandwagon" at the moment. It'll be something else in a few weeks time. Grealish will score the winner vs Germany and someone will dig up a story about him being pissed and abusive when he was 16 and their will be outrage by the outrage brigade for absolutely no reason

Ahhh you were doing so well, then you had to go down the "everyone these days is an offended snowflake" route. :(

Well tell that to those wanting comedy banned and scenes cut...........
I’m not saying that’s a good thing at all. I’m simply saying that he should have known better. He even added #racist to one of them

It’s most likely just dreadful banter. But he wasn’t a kid at the time.

the person above who posted about Johnson’s historic comments, it blows my mind that people don’t care about them

You said people are offended by anything these days well if he's said these things they are fair game to think that, people weren't aware of the stuff then so it's not about latest fashion

No one could be offended as no one knew about them. The Gary Speed one was particularly offensive

It's fashionable to be offended these days. Can guarantee someone will be trying very hard these next few weeks to dig up some dirt on one of the English footballers. Maybe a hint of jealously also. Robinson clearly a bit of a knacker, seems to have grown up a bit, got his act together, career back on track then boom........ someone drags up his past and folk go mental about it.

The lad clearly wasn’t particularly very bright or well guided as a young un. Comments from his previous coaches suggest that too.

Im really not sure what suspending him now achieves though. If anything, it’s as embarrassing for the ECB as it is for Robinson. How these posts came to light following his debut and not before suggests there is a fundamental gap in the vetting process in player selection. Given the context of the time we live in and the player’s checkered past, this should have been known prior to him being picked and action should have been taken with a statement released as to what it was before he was allowed to play.

I didn't see one about Gary Speed. The only ones I saw were about spaffing on women, girls with no class, and about Chinese eyes (not acceptable, but more childish than anything else).

In light of the new evidence, the defence case rests, and I'm going to back away and reconsider my position 😶

Well someone did, they literally released them instantly when the lad who in the limelight for doing well for himself. Gary Speed tweet was poor but I heard/read/received far worse and I've heard Sunderland fans sing far worse about Gary Speed

I don’t think people have gone mental about it. Most people have talked about it in a balanced manner, recognising that it’s a bit harsh to judge a teenager who has grown up

the ECB are between a rock and a hard place on this. They can’t win.

This is the top and bottom of it.

He has to take whatever punishment comes his way (which shouldn't be excessive) but the ECB have fucked up here.

Suppose it takes away the attention from them but making an example of a player
