F1 2021

Very little technology was ever developed via this route anyway, it was just marketing bs to justify the sport.

Electric tech just doesn't translate. It seems unlikely that battery technology will ever be up to the job, never mind in the near future.
i'd give up on f1 if i were you... stick to dominos as road car tech is only going in one direction, which means the money behind f1 will only go into investing e-fuels.

I miss the old refuel pitstops
does it really add much? was it was banned more of costs\safety than 'entertainment'? personally never thought it did much other than making the discussion around 'tactics' longer to cover less action on track?
The spectacle and history is great but its a bloody awful race.
by all accounts (i didnt watch it myself), the fe races there at the weekend were entertaining.

Partly for safety and costs, or at least that was the stated reason. More likely it was because it didn’t appeal to the masses.

I liked a tactical races but Formula 1 wanted to stop the overtakes in the pits but taking in less fuel.

You also had instances where someone would do a short stop then come out and get stuck behind someone going long.

We’ll definitely get some entertainment out of Mazepin in Monaco anyway. He struggles to let other cars past on a normal track never mind one as tight as Monaco.
for some reason satoru nakajima springs to mind when you mentioned that... detroit 87 he claimed the street circuits made him dizzy (pretty sure i heard that on the clive james year-end review vhs!). googled it, and he qualified his lotus honda 8.3 seconds slower that his team mate that weekend and crashed out after 1 lap! mazepin has a lot to live up to then... 🙃

would love to go, they had/have day trips from the UK but they are pricey. Would be a bucket list for me though....
i think you can sit\perch above rascasse for 'free'...

I'm sure Ricardo 'Tosser' Rosset had a few moments at Monaco too.
had to google him, knew the name but can't remember much about him... 2nd hit was "THIS IS PROBABLY THE WORST LAP IN F1 HISTORY"... you have a better memory than me...

Don't you have to get to the hill at about 4am or even the night before?

IIRC, tickets aren't ridiculously expensive, not compared to somewhere like Silverstone, where a pits straight tickets is around £500. I think you can sit on the straight opposite the pits in Monaco, just after the swimming pool chicane for around £350.

that's pretty much what i understand, not that i've been anywhere near the place myself!

i presume that as the cars arent flat out, and pretty close to the stands that the view of the cars will be much better than them whizzing past at silverstone? and you get to see mazepin lapped 20 times too?

I listen to the Aiden Millward storytime series, and alongside Roberto Moreno he gets a lot of mentions.

Yeah, I think you would see them for a decent amount of time, and have a good view of the pitlane.

Back before they ruined Silverstone by moving the pits straight I used to sit opposite the podium there and always felt there was a good amount of time to see the cars as they came out of Woodcote and down towards Copse. It was also good for seeing the start.

I have high hopes for my position on Farm Corner this year.
