Golf 2021

Just noticed Throsten doing memberships there now. £500 for 5 day and £600 for 7 day. Was down there on Monday for first time in a while. Green looked terrible but ran as smooth as Ive ever seen them down there. @Voice of fair play shot 82 and me 88 which were our best scores for a while. When at sedgefield we are happy to get round in mid 90s
Ive joined mate, decent price n course improving every week.

Only shame about it no longer being shit is its busier. Last Friday morning took an eternity.
Started to plat 4ish n theres only ever a dozen on.
Gis a shout when next down.

Had another good 9 holes this morning. 46 and 19 points. Started off lovely with my first birdie of the season. Couple more pars and a few bogies. Decent hit. Mind I’m not sure if I’m getting haye fever but my head is well bunged up.

has anyone just totally lost it before?

I think I might have the yips or someit

hadnt played since last lockdown, I can usually pick it up well, as my technique is simple

Driving wise, I could barely hit the ball, couldnt get it in the air

then the more I thought about it just played on my mind

Been plaaying golf for 20 years, never had anything like that before.

Ive had the yips before where I literally couldnt hit the ball - not that Ive ever been that good - the way I goyt out of it was basics, stare at the ball and just try and hit it relatively softly until you get your eye back in

A couple of years ago we had a 2 day society event at Cardrona in the borders. By the time we got to the par 4, 18th on the 2nd day I'd had enough. Teed off with my putter and played the entire hole using the putter. Had one of my better scores on that hole, walking off with an 8 including getting out of a bunker 1st time with the putter.

aye

shot 94 yesterday couldn’t hit any iron

Played like an absolute weapon yesterday.
Thinning it off the tee, shanking out of bounds , hitting irons fat.
Absolutely useless.
Hit a great drive on 18 at Whitburn, leaving me 100 to the green, manage to slice a pw a full 90% left and straight oob.

Didn't play great yesterday - but I did win the 2's competition at Seaham - hit it to 1m on the 2nd!

Right, I’m going to take the leap and do it. I’ve never picked up a club before but would like to start.

Am I better off getting half a dozen 1-1 lessons or starting in a group lesson?

Junior coaching sessions start Saturday 15th may at Whitburn if anyone wants to get their kids involved. £5 per session contact the pro if you’re interested. I’ve got my 2 boys going, didn’t even have to twist their arm

Played boldon yesterday and was very disappointed. The greens on at least 50% have been ruined by then arseholes who put diesel on them. I know that’s not boldons fault but I just thought the whole course was not in good nick.

Aye, I’m a member there and they’ve done a proper number on the greens like...I’d love to get hold of whoever it was.

Last played a couple of weeks ago and thought the rest was in canny shape but I guess with the recent cold snap and the fact they’re focusing on fixing the greens the rest may have had less attention than usual.

Hoping for a month of garden leave soon so will be out every other day regardless...need the practice after pretty much a year of restrictions.

Whitburn’s greens are in a bit of a state as well atm.
Not through vandalism thankfully

I'm a member too hear usual moans in the car park about the state of the greens but whoever put diesel on the greens needs a swift tarring. It's a lot better now than at the start of the season but need the grass to grow back. Still I've been cut 3 shots. That's what I get for birdies on 16 and 18.

Doesn't stop 100 idiots playing in the comps on Saturday and Sundays lol

Everywhere needs some heat and water. Growth has been so slow due to a very cold April. I reckon most course's greens are 3-4 weeks behind schedule. Reckon they should start coming good over the next couple of weeks. A top-dressing, fed and rolled and we'll be off and running.

I’ll have a knock with you, I know it’s been sold and it’s going to start turning into a proper club again. I played it when I was shite and the course equally shite.
