My son lives in Didsbury...he and his boy wear Sunderland shirts....we were at the Cup final when went toe to toe with your boys....we were in a group of City fans after the game and looked up to see a mass rank of Sunderland fans applauding the City fans as they left the Stadium... don’t think I’ve ever felt prouder to be a Sunderland fan.

Sunderland fans in sportsmanship shocker.
Don’t doubt it one bit, 1990 you made it difficult to celebrate.
To this day that is spoken about in Swindon, forgetting the following week.

You made some friends I can tell you.

Been to Maine Road three times. Once on a night match I accidentally ended up in the Kippax but on the City side. Had colours on, that was hairy 😳😄
Night after the Cup Final(Sunday) we were in the Nags Head in Covent Gardens which was chocker with our fans. A group of four City lads walked in and turned to walk back out but were made welcome and joined in all the shenanigans.

I remember a trip in the late 80's. We were both 2nd division and had a decent session in the City supporters club. Helen and her hair was knocking about the bar. It was pretty much a "We're both in this together, all that unfulfilled potential" vibe over pints and chat. It ended 1-1.

Always had respect for the supporters who did all those years of hard graft on the Kippax, no matter what division. I hope they're around to enjoy City's success.

it was a privilege to be there. Proper old school football day.

I was in Covent Garden the night before Wembley and you guys had taken over and I was with my 3 kids. Came out and went for a bite and not one bit of mither from the Sunderland lads in spite of many being very pissed and me and the kids in our kits. You are a very respected club across the nation and that is worth as much if not more as any trophy. I hope one day I see you win the premier league. When you are as big as you are never say never.
That has actually made me smile and think. Cheers for that comment. I just wrote complimentry comment of other thread bout City. I was born in Sunderland, and all my reletives are there still. Love the bloody place more than anything, but love the people more. So many glory seeking fans down here, and even genuine fans of clubs who win a fair bit. I Always want City to win as i don't know one City fan down here, so keep cracking on pipping the others to the trophys.

For the record, i was in Lanzarote on the day you won the league in injury time , watching in a bar. I was made up for you as a club, and i never forget walking back with the young un from the pub along Playa Blanca beach and some older fella was just looking outta to the sea and singing ( Very quitely, and only to himself) Blue Moon song. I just smiled and said well done, and it was almost as if he was just looking back and remembering others who weren't there anymore. I maybe wrong, but it's stuck in my head that moment.

Man City and their human rights abusing owners and super league wannabes can fuck right off.
How can we kiss their ass and slagg the Mags off for wanting similars owners.

Would you say Sunderland are a bigger club than Man City and that man city “we’re” a big club before the money? (I don’t know or care as I don’t support either btw)

"I don’t know or care as I don’t support either btw"

So why are you here and why ask the question?

Always had a soft spot for city so the feelings mutual (for me anyway). I’m too young to know the relegation game but old enough to remember city being a very similar club to ourselves with very busy neighbours. Good loyal supporters through the hard times!

Me dar had a Video tape of the city relegation I remember being around 11 year old watching it on repeat, one of many things that makes me feel I’ve grew up in the wrong generation!

I've stated my feeling on City loads of times on here, often only to get replies like plastic fans or tourists in more recent times. They still have loads of fans who were there 22 years ago when City had a happy ending to the lowest point of their history, a game which is still my favourite playoff game. Never forget when they went 2-0 down and the camera panned to the crowd and a woman in her 40's or 50's at a guess was wiping tears away from her face, I felt that pain becasue I really supported City that day. Fast forward an hour and Weaver gesturing to the rest of the team to follow him and running what seemed an entire lap of the real Wembley.

No one will ever change my opinion of them after the 3-2 that sent us down, from edgey and taking the piss to real empathy, 99% of football fans just don't do or feel that way towards other sides.
Pre Arab money City are the closest team to ourselves, hopefully we can end up somewhere near them one day in the future.

Geno...this thread is a celebration of mutual fan respect.....it has absolutely nothing to do with ownership or politics.
