CC :: Durham v Warwickshire

Any idea on when spectators will be allowed back in?
Now im self employed I quite fancy a day at the cricket when I’m a bit quiet.
Been class watching the streams.

Excellent day for us today.

On reflection, I think winning the toss was huge - I don’t think it was a 30-8 pitch by any stretch of the imagination, I think their 9th wicket pair proved that and Lees and Young will have taken heart from seeing that stand which I think they showed throughout their innings.

I think there was a combination of some excellent bowling from Wood (unplayable pace) and Raine (accurate and probing), a little bit of assistance with the new ball from the moisture in the pitch and probably a lack of application from one or two Warwickshire batsmen which added together to create a perfect storm which saw the Bears in danger.

They can rightly feel slightly aggrieved that the cricket gods conspired against them today, certainly in the first 90 minutes of play but overall they’ve been thoroughly outplayed. I could sense in that last hour that their heads went down. They were very quiet in the field as the overs crept down and they absolutely shot off the field when the umpires called time.

Lees and Young did the hard work tonight, hopefully tomorrow morning they can claim their rewards with 50’s - and then go from there. If we’re still batting tomorrow night (provided we haven’t lost loads of play to the rain) I reckon the best Warwickshire will be able to hope for at that point is a draw.

Lees and Young batted very cautiously as there is still some dodgy bounce on that pitch. The challenge IMHO is how we up the scoring rate, to give us enough time to win the game around the weather delays, without it costing us the game. SB seems a cautious captain so I expect we will just keep scoring at around 2 an over and make the game safe in the first instance.

Make no mistake, Wood helped Raine get those figures, just completely changes a batsman's mindset when you have 93mph+ at one end

I like wood's new run up a lot. It looks very smooth, less stress on the body and he looks fast. Don't know what he was doing all that time with his old one. Stubborn not to take advice for so long.

Tbf advice on bowling actions fucked Jimmy Anderson early in his career.
Advice isn’t always for the best.
17th May. See:
Cheers.
Hopefully some chance of getting to a game mid may then.
£13.50 a ticket for a day.

its transformed him

he’s the quickest bowler in the world

that’s not hyperbole

he should be England’s number 1 “fast bowler”

its thst simple for me

he doesn’t get the respect in the media thst archer gets, I don’t get if

also, his figures before this run up should be totally ignored, he’s just a different bowler now
