Except he didn’t stand up for what was right at all, according to this in the Chronicle, he wanted it to go through

Ah right. Assumed he was against it.

Suppose it will definitely be on his radar when the pro-Saudi Labour lot are badgering him to interfere with proceedings force through the takeover.

The North East Labour MPs have been lobbying the Premier League for months in an attempt to bring the Saudi murderers to the region.

Well done Boris. Standing up for what is right. Absolutely how bizarre behaviour from the Taliban Toon.
What you on about? He (the actual PM) was pushing for the takeover, after the killing of Jamal khashsoggi. The behaviour of our politicians on this issue is a disgrace. But money is more important than allowing a bloke, who orders people to be chopped up, to control of one of the Country's PL teams it seems.

The PL, up to this point, must be applauded, for not bowing to pressure to have let this deal go through.

That video that went viral of you small time **** all buzzing singing Simon Grayson glad your mine before your first season in the pub league
Then you came 24th in the pub league and got relegated out of it at home to Burton Albion without so much as a peep all season and you wonder why you are stuck in the wilderness now with the north east turning even more black and white by the week
😂😂😂

I'm not upto date on either story, but have I got this right? The Labour Party spent all day yesterday calling the Tories out over cronyism and called them sleaze (no problem with this). However, today Labour MPs from the region have called on the governments support to get a deal done? On top of that one of these MPs has actually said that the government getting involved is in the interest of all football fans.
😂😂😂😂😂 nee shame. More flip flops than a Benidorm beach. Anyone voting for any of this shower of Shite wants a check up from the neck up.

Unlucky lads🤣
Devil's Advocate here, but government officials lobby on behalf of business all the time. It's not a smoking gun. And if it can be proven that the PIF and KSA are legally considered separate and distinct, then that's that. Regardless of how mental and obviously bollocks that is, it would be legal fact.

It's not dissimilar to Hancock tossing some government contract his sister's way. We all know he did it, but if it can't be proven in a court, then legally, whaddyagonnado?

fwiw I think this takeover isn't happening, but I'm hopeful someone else will get Ashley out.

This bloke is right. But some of the left leaning journalists should also be pointing out the NE Labour MP's who are pushing for this.

And why aren't the likes of him critical of fellow journalists such as Caulkin who has acted as a mouthpiece and cheer leader for these people? They're complicit in normalising someone who orders people to be chopped up.

I agree, Caulkin is a Labour supporter and has praised Chi Onwura, because she’s his MP and is an excellent MP.
It seems none of them are too principled when it comes to the Mags being bought by murderers

One might wonder why they refused to commit to the process which would've confirmed that to be the case last year. Rather than side step it.

This has nowt to do with the government it's a matter for the premier League those were the words of Boris when the mags embarrassed themselves with a petition to Boris. The Saudis have now proved beyond doubt with this latest news that the Saudi government and PIF are the same thing

It's about influence and control, not just about whether they are legally distinct.
