Pardew signed a lot of them. Ah no thats right it was all carr
Mostly Carr, yeah. I think Pardew pushed hard for Obertan. Maybe Perch too, but I might be misremembering.

Which is fine, Carr found some excellent players and Pardew, for all his faults, played them in their best positions on the whole for that season.
Is your point here that Benitez wasnt very good in the transfer market either?
No, my point is that Pardew had a much, much better squad than Benitez did. Most of Benitez' last squad were players he'd signed to get us out of the Championship at the first time of asking.

"What can we do? I don’t really know but I decided to stand close to the training ground on Tuesday morning with a cabbage on a stick on a one man protest. This was allegedly the first day back at training after the Brighton debacle, which I had had over two days to stew on"

This....is f***ing GOLD 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Was I slightly apprehensive and then embarrassed standing holding a cabbage? I’m a 65 year old law abiding grandparent who has had a successful career and am now enjoying retirement so the answer is a resounding ‘’Yes.’’
Should have put the cabbage on his head and shoved the stick up his arse.
Would have made much more impact  :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I love how this is classed as some sort of achievement by mags

Premier League squad. Gets to spend 60m quid.

Probably had strongest squad in championship history and they were 2nd behind Brighton with 30 minutes of the season to go 🤣

You must be joking Fish lad.
That team with Sissoko etc shud never have been relegated. You are nuts if you believe Rafa had a thankless task trying to do so. Ten games he had man.
Lost to Norwich and cudnt even beat us at SJP.

Little Dick saved us the previous season and he only had 9 games with a much inferior squad than you lot had.

Haway man, just admit it, Rafa's not the top boss he used to be.
Benitez remains a very good manager, even if he's not the manager he once was.

We keep seeing this insistence that Benitez was chiefly responsible for our relegation. But, the slightest amount of scrutiny and common sense, says that bollocks. He had responsibility, sure, but so did McClaren. And so did the performance of the other teams in the relegation mix. Benitez got 1.3 points per game, which is most seasons would be enough to survive, unfortunately we were 19th when he took over and Allardyce took you on a great run yourself. Although, in Allardyce's first 10 games he got 9 points (0.9PpG) 3 wins, 7 losses. In Benitez's first 10 he got 13pts (1.3Ppg), 3 wins, 4 draws, 3 losses.

Advocaat's first 10 games he got 9pts
Poyet's first 10 games he got 9pts
Di Canio's first 10 games he got 9pts

The other day you were saying winning a league that is highly competitive is a better achievement than strolling it.

Well he shouldnt have spunked all that money he had to spend in the championship on championship dross like murphy who were never going to be any good in the prem.

Going up first time of asking was the aim, we did that, automatically, as champions, again.

He needed players that would get us promoted, which is why he signed players like Hanley, Murphy, Gayle, Clark, Diame. And it worked because we went up first time as champions again.

On huge money and long contracts, if he was that good of a manager did he need to do that ?

Surely the point is

Pards didn't get you relegated and had you mid table but his services were no longer required because you thought you were better than you actually are

Enter the FSW who did well at other bigger clubs than yours and got you relegated but you still lick his hoop as you do Sheila who also relegated you, what do you call him?

AH yes "one of your own who gets it"

Clowns to a man LMFAO

FTM!!!

No, that's not the point. Not the point at all. Thanks for dropping by though. Hope you have a great day.

I know we laugh at him but I think he would be a decent player in a decent team. He's got pace to burn, decent ball control and never gives up. Well....kind of - he's maybe given up under Bruce!
I'd buy him ahead of saint maxim
