The scums dislike of Ashley amazes me, he gave them interest free loan of £160 million if my memory serves me right. He saved them from oblivion and because he refused to give Rafa an open cheque book they castigate him. I would rather have him as an owner than the Oxford mafia we were stuck with, he has the club running within its means.

Still pining over "Rafa" and selectively using a 16 game spell, while airbrushing out the Rafagation.

"Year one, took Newcastle United back up as champions."

They wonder why the football fraternity mock their supporters?

Apparently Sheff Wed record transfer fee received was for.....Steve Bruce 😂 no wonder he’s not getting sacked as if he needs to pay another 3 million quid to bin him off it’s getting on for 10 million. Almost as bad as our Alvarez saga!

All jokes aside what sort of utter incompetence has to be involved to say Joe Linton is worth paying 40m and Steve Bruce and his ‘crack team’ of failures are worth spending 6m on. It’s absolutely mind boggling

Yes I noticed that. They'll not have it he took them down despite being in a great position when he took over.

They don't mention either the absolute fortune he spent to get them back up highlighting net spend and crying he had no backing.

Or the fact he had his visa sorted ages before they announced his departure. Absolute con man

Jesus f***ing wept man 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Bruce has had a career in football, and has probably more experience in the professional game than everyone on this board put together. Is he the best manager in the world, no. But does he know more about that squad, and the way a professional football side works than you or the rest of your fans?

I reckon so.
Bruce is a poor manager. I don't buy the reasoning that as he has had a long career in football that he can't be criticised by fans who haven't. If a long career in football was a guarantee of being a good manager, then loads of players would make in management, but not many do. I'd go so far as to say Bruce has absolutely stole a living as a manager. The money he must have earned from being distinctly mediocre is probably up there with some of the most successful PM managers over the last 20 years. He only keeps getting hired because the media somehow think he is a good manager and big him up. I mean, what has he actually achieved in over 20 years of management? A couple of promotions, a couple of 10th placed finishes and at least 2 relegations as far as I'm aware.

"Great position"? We were 19th when Benitez was appointed (11/03/16) .

Aye, if only people with more experience in the job could criticise a manager, we'd all have fuck all to talk about.

He took you to Villa and played for a point. You should never have gone down with the games you had left and got relegated with a game to spare. He thought he'd keep you up easily and fucked it up, then spent a fortune before f***ing off for the money when he didn't get his own way. Busted flush and a con man.

And you're f***ing simple

He's a poor manager yes. But he still has a whole lot more experience of dealing with players and tactics than the rest of the fans. If he is playing a player "out of position" it will be because he has spoken to the player, and seen something in his team that he thinks can make it work. I dont for one minute think he would not pick the best team he thinks he can

Newcastle fans will do anything to hide their players from blame. Maybe they know these players arent as good as they think?

Just going to gloss over where you claimed we were in a "great position"? Well, I suppose 19th in the Premier League would look good to everyone below that.

You had the best chance out of anyone. He would of thought that when he took you over. Yet not one of you will admit he relegated you. Read the Mag article. "1st year he got us promoted". Bollocks. 1st year he relegated you.

Well actually we did when we beat Everton. I bet you were crying into your Rafa wank sock when that happened

I’ll also just leave this here from the same season.

Do you ever consider that his reasoning for playing a player "out of position" may be flawed?

The thing is, his tactics and experience may be "better" than the fans that criticise him, but the problem for him is they need to be better than the opposition manager's tactics and experience. He isn't pitting himself against fans but others who have also had long careers in the game.

That said, I still think he makes mistakes that fans are allowed to criticise and point out. I also hope Mike Ashley has your mindset and thinks Bruce knows much better than the fans calling for his head and keeps him at Newcastle to finish the job

Or maybe his players simply aren't good enough, and/or vastly overrated by the fans.

At the end of the day, no matter how bad Bruce's tactics are, he isnt the one misplacing passes or failing to take shots. He isnt the one showing zero desire on the pitch, which from what I can see at Newcastle is a huge part of the problem.

I dont think even a world class manager could do much with that side. Could do better, absolutely but the truth is the Newcastle fans overrate so many of their players in a hope of being seen as a "big club". Lascelles and Shelvey for England? Matt Longstaff to Man United.

He had 10 games to play. Over a quarter of a season. 30 points to play for.

You were one point behind us (in 17th) with a game in hand. When he was appointed, you had games against 20th, 18th, 17th, 16th and 15th.

Couldn’t have asked for much easier really.

A decent manager wouldn't be picking Shelvey every game. A decent manager wouldn't have brought Carroll back.
apart from that I'm in two minds. There's definitely more talent there than WBA or Sheff Wed. On paper they're maybe stronger than Leeds?
But then I remember they've players like Manquillo and I just laugh!
