The EU is going to have a very tough year, that's for sureSo were the EU IIRC? That went well.
This is correct. Aside from those who’ve sadly perished from the virus, the most vulnerable in society and the key workers are the ones who sacrificed the most. People in these categories shouldn’t need to wait any longer than necessary just because “it’s not fair”.Devils advocate: a lot of the now vaccinated had more severely reduced freedoms last year with shielding/isolating/loneliness etc. It could be argued that it's fair to give them first chance at more freedoms this year.
Now. Those most vulnerable have been locked down the longest. The restrictions on “normal” people were put in place to not overwhelm the NHS as cases were high.Seems totally unfair to be honest - Cyprus can do what they want, but in the UK we went into lockdown together and should come out of it together.
All these restrictions were put in place to protect those now vaccinated in the main - to let them have their freedom while everybody else lives under restrictions will only grow resentment.

Exactly.Thank God we left and will be asking in the "sunlit uplands" then?
Exactly.

Exactly. I cannot believe how so many just cannot bear to be happy for someone to enjoy themselves if they can't. Miserable lot.Not to mention those who's livelihood depends on the travel industry.
But no let's wait because some people will be upset when they see a picture of someone on Facebook on holiday.
Are those tourists allowed back in?Eh? The resorts are desperate, its as simple as that.
Is is too much to ask we all get to enjoy life again TOGETHER?The selfishness displayed in this thread is astounding. It's full on playground stuff 'well if those old folk can go on holiday, why can't I go the the pub' utter bellendery.
Most of those vaccinated are elderly with very little life expectancy to look forward to and should be allowed to enjoy what remains of their lives. if that means they can have an extra holiday then good luck to them. By comparison someone currently in their 30s, on average, has another 50 years to look forward to and if they miss a Summer holiday by not being vaccinated so be it.
How could you begrudge the oldies a holiday after this year ffs.Exactly. I cannot believe how so many just cannot bear to be happy for someone to enjoy themselves if they can't. Miserable lot.
What's this Ayia Napa like to go to? Is it like that TV show Benidorm? My images of places in Spain, Benidorm as well as Ayia Napa is topless 20-something college students with faces as red as beetroot drinking shot after shot of some fancy sounding exotic spirit at 2 am in the morning jumping up and down on tables and pissing in fountains.Ayia Napa yes, other parts very much cater for older folk.
looks as though portugal are looking to welcome people as well.
fair play but it's on mine, had 4 trips there cancelled last year. With their links to Brazil it’ll not be on my must go to list this year
I can see many countries following Cyprus’ lead now.looks as though portugal are looking to welcome people as well.
that's the biggest sticking point tbfI can see many countries following Cyprus’ lead now.
only issue is whether the UK government add these countries to the green lists
I can't see why the UK would have a problem with vaccinated people coming and goingI can see many countries following Cyprus’ lead now.
