This all day long. There was a greater sense of supporting the region back before Sir John Hall; it didn't stop fans from any club having a die-hard allegiance to one or the other. Just wanted to watch football. The habit of going to any game available was more pronounced in my father's generation than mine but I went to a lot of Newcastle games when we weren't playing at home in my youth.I’m in my late seventies and must admit I went to Sid James and Ayresome Park if Sunderland were away. I just enjoyed watching football, no tv saturation then also went to Hartlepool.
