India v England series

sorry mate, with respect, you're just wrong, this pitch is substandrd, it isn't fit for top level cricket, and India should be sanctioned, simple as that.
Tbh, I don’t disagree with you. This pitch takes it a bit too far. My point is that both rank turners and heavy grass are no different in spirit. Both should be sanctioned. But whereas these turners are always talked about as shit pitches, seam-friendly pitches are always talked up about how they are stern examinations of a batsman. I was merely stating that I have never understood why a spinners paradise is a bad pitch but a seamers paradise is a good one

It’s no where near as bad as that one in Jamaica that had to be abandoned on the first day!!

Perhaps you too young for that one

Yeah I was alive, seen highlights obvs, but I cant remember it

this isn;t hyperbole, its genuinelly the worst pitch Ive seen, I think I have watched nearly every test match since the late 90s.

Dont mind turn mate,Sri Lanka it turns day 1, but not like this

its just sub standard

Like I am watching the Indian players going mad every wicket, whats the point? its meaningless cricket

Conspiracy theorist don’t you just love them. Go onto Google and type in Drs / umpire howlers and there’s loads of them almost all with neutral umpires. It happens against us and it’s cheating. How very English.

However mate, you spent enough time on the football board, especially when we were in the premier league to know when official decisions don’t go our way it’s a conspiracy of grand proportions:D

Used by Nepalese Gurkhas and a few Indians, off topic did you serve in the army with any of these lads? Or just a username?

Think he used post as a Nepal Cricket or summat a while ago. He came on here for some strange reason cos he was over the moon they won some ICC minor competition in some nondescript backwater.

I feel bad for having ago at him now like, I was caught up in the moment

I apologise to him, dont wanna scare him off
Root and Silverwood are too nice, they wont dare say a word in the press after this

I, on the other hand, am a total twat. So I'd just divert any question to it.

Tbh if you don't think that is evidence you are a bit of a fool.

As if everyone on here doesn't know some decisions go your way and others don't man.

You have got to be honest and say if this match was staged anywhere else in the world the ICC would be crawling all over it and Chennai would be taken off the hosting list. This is not a pitch Test cricket should be played on. It is a lottery. It is disappointing. It is not an advert for Test cricket.

Spot on by Aggers

Yes it is, its the worst pitch I've seen in test cricket in my life time, and I am 32

It’a bad like. Thinking back the abandoned test in Jamaica was the worst I’ve seen. Someone else mentioned the Edgbaston test in the 90s v WI. We were accused of doctoring a pitch by the Aussies to suit Underwood but it was never proven, Pitches like this were more common in India decades ago but not in recent times.

I’ve never understood the reasoning behind why a greentop that turns andy caddick into waqar younis is acceptable but a turner isn’t
Agreed. Just look at the way Somerset were treated.

Finding the reactions on here a bit over the top. I post on another cricket forum and it's far too one sided on here.

Pitch is not really a quality test pitch breaking up so early, i do however think England would not have batted well even if toss was won first with that much turn on day 1. Rohit batted fantastically and will prove the difference. Not sure about sanctions myself, this happens, its just not the greatest advert for test cricket. Credit however is due to Rohit.

Aye one in Jamaica defs worse, but not one I saw live

I cant think of a worse one

In Englands you get impossible situations, when its cloudy, humid, dark, and Jimmy has the ball, but you can't do anythung about that, its usually flatter after that.

Even in Sri Lanka, it turns day 1, and the games moves at a pace but it gets to day 4 regularly, it doesnt fall apart

I just wish there was the possibility of sanctions, but they are so powerful, the other 2 games will be like this

I actually want to watch some good cricket! especially in lockdown, so its frustrating more than anything

I don't think many are calling for sanctions but are saying this is a terrible pitch for test cricket and home sides shouldn't doctor them to this extent.

Name a worse one?

Ha you ain’t scaring me off. Been rooting for SAFC ever since Jozy and was supposed to come over watch the lads for the first time last year until covid turned the world upside down.
But also don’t expect me to not challenge you when you talk nonsense

I wasnt talking nonsense like, worst test pitch I've seen in 30 years

all good stuff though mate, keep posting.
Indians really are irritating when it comes to cricket.

There was one in the West Indies where the match was abandoned.

Yep! before my time though marra

Can anyone actually imagine what the pitch would be like if the ECB asked the groundsman at the Riverside to make it uneven, leave a couple of cm of green grass on it and make sure it's damp. It would be hilarious but ridiculous as well.
