Shared Parental Leave - encouraging more blokes to take it

Pleased someone said something. I can't even bring myself to point out how backward that thinking is.

The funniest thing is they wouldn’t employ women “of a certain age” but men can become Dads at any age...so you’d have to rule out men up to retirement age. The workforce will just be made up of post menopausal women.

No probs. They are really big on being family friendly, so they promote flexible working, compressed hours, shared parental etc via the intranet and openly signpost it. We also promote it through our conferences and away days.
I take it you get the same package as women if you take it? Do you know if it’s popular, and whether take up is good?

"Snip passports or nee work lads."

People always go on about "small businesses" and how unfair it is on them.
If I was a small business owner, I'd actually give 2 shits about my staff, and I'd be chuffed to bits for them.

Part of running a business is not being in a position to be totally fucked if one person left - with 6 months notice!!

I’m not so much on about the money.

if I (which I do ) have a squad of 2 lads working together who have got to be together to do a 2 man Job and I’ve got one lad taking half the year off because he can?Causes untold problems and he’s have to go.
Which other laws, as an employer, do you totally disregard?

If a SAFC player took a year off because their Lass had the bairn there would be rightly hell on.
Actually, with SPL I think the woman has to be entitled to Mat leave in the first place in order for a bloke to share some of it. So in the case of SAFC most of their wives won’t be working, so won’t get Mat leave they can share with their partners.

That’s a generalisation if ever I’ve seen one pet.
