It'll be impossible to ignore as it's already running in some international press including Reuters. The people who broke the story need to be challenged on where their source came from and what studies / data their 8% is based on.
 


Either way, wether it be the government, AstraZenca or the people whispering about “8% efficiency” is going to get a big f***ing reckoning if they’ve lied about the vaccine in any capacity whoever it maybe. I’m leaning to the side that it ain’t true, otherwise we’re going to be dealing with the biggest shitstorm in years.
 
The uk regulator has already shared trial results I would have thought, presumably it shows enough evidence in the >65 age range. Just re communicate this and the story goes away I would think ...
 
This could seriously undermine the vaccine rollout. Rumours are often passed on as fact on social media and before you know it people will be saying they don't want the oxford one.

Cant see it being taken seriously in any way unless there is a source mentioned of some kind of repute and / or some study data to back it up.

The Mail are running the story as, being reported in German Papers. It needs to managed and addressed. Any paper running a story can have a significant impact on the public.

I have managed to book my second (Pfizer) jab with a 5 week gap. They are mobing to a six week gap for Moderna and Pfizer here but I reckon that will change as we have had a big cut in Pfizer jabs and wont get up to expected stock until March.

The issue you have with timings is the drug company have no choice but to stick to the trial data even if a longer gap is OK

We have a shingles jab here that has to have at least 2 months gap between doses and even if the gap is up to 12 months its just as effective.

To be doing half a million vaccines a day is a massive achievement so should be applauded

Canada have asked for more data about the Oxford vaccine before approval, is there any indication what data they've requested?
 
We have been vaccinating with the oxford vaccine for over three weeks now, mainly in the over 80s, so we must have enough data on it's efficacy independently of the trials.
 
I watched the Covid documentary on bbc they had a study group of +65s there was a couple from Oxfordshire getting jabbed.
I wouldn't be surprised if we had nicked a fair few vaccines destined for the EU. Hence secrecy over how much we have. The germans are probably seething as we are vaccinating in large numbers and looking to deflect from their performance. Theyre asking astrozeneca to provide details of where the vaccines have been distributed that they arent getting and dont like the answer they got.
All going well with the vaccine rollout in the UK it will give us a massive advantage over other countries in every department as some are now going into lockdown with limited vaccine supply.
And now theyre trying to tighten rules on exporting vaccines to others... that would be us. Cracking game of world chess

Great Britain finally Great again, other countries being jealous shock. Everyone involved in the Oxford vaccine should be multi millionaires.

Given that the EU has not even authorised the Oxford vaccine I'd suggest you're talking nonsense.
 
Zealots arguing about the EU and their chosen policies in the face of a global pandemic, it's being reduced to brexit related bollocks day after day on here. If they don't fancy it I'll gladly move up the queue.
