I wanted us to get absolutely battered last night. As did many others. Anything to speed up the sacking of Bruce. I really think anybody else could do better than him. Looks like he has got no idea how to change it.
Hope we get stuffed off Villa as well. Any sort of good performance, or a draw or win only strengthens Bruce's position.
Two big defeats in the next two games would surely get him out.

Thats the thing, I wasn't arsed either way, a win or a draw wouldn't change my feelings....

No, nobody would have picked Bruce. Rumour is that Bruce was 11th choice. Dunno where that number came from, but it sounds realistic. We were mocked for not wanting Bruce, but even the owner apparently wasn't massively keen on the man.

I dunno, we're terrible, but more than that, we don't look like we've got a clue what we're supposed to be doing. At least Fulham are trying to play football. And West Brom will sharp conform to Allardyce's style. Start picking up 1-0 and 0-0s.

It'll likely only be loan signings. We need a substitute striker, a good CM and maybe a right back? Can't see any permanent signings because we've 4 'strikers' on the books (CW, AC, DG & Joe), 5 centre midfielders (JS, IH, JH, ML, SL) and 3-4 right backs (EK, JM, DY and maybe Murphy). And because Bruce got the players he wanted in the summer (CW, RF, JH & JL) to the tune of £36m.

Maybe, don't think many owners would sack a manager because of a cup exit though. Even if it was embarrassing.

I think for me though that was the culmination of what we could all see coming. The luck running out and him being schooled by a lower league manager with a second string side out. Even I had managed to look forward to that game and a glimmer of hope and he failed epically.

Called it the night the draw was made. It was obvious.
Not really that lucky.
Brentford would've been hoping to draw us or Stoke.
They get the ball down, move it quickly and are fast on the break with great movement up front.
We won't be able to deal with that.
Brentford in the semi finals

Oh aye, it was the nadir for fans, but the owner couldn't give a shiny shit about the cups so would never sack Bruce for that. I think it'll take us being 18th or 19th before Mike pulls the trigger.

Problem is and an honest question ...Who would Newcastle get in to replace Bruce.?.......saying anyone could do better isn't an answer

Realistically I would think maybe Nigel Pearson. Not even sure Eddie Howe would take it. Wouldn’t mind even a bit left field the Cowleys getting a chance. Would be brave but at least it would be a total change of direction and completely fresh ideas.

 Jesus Christ what a state we are in Pearson and Howe ffs  cowleys :lol::lol:

I think the likelihood would be somebody in the mould of Bruce, Pardew, Kinnear, McClaren. Somebody grateful to get back into management, somebody who a premier league job would feel like a lottery win.
Nigel Pearson, Mark Hughes, Tony Pulis would be the likely candidates for the club to appoint. Wouldn't be too happy with any of them but I think all three would be better than Bruce.
Other possibilities, but don't think the club would do it, David Wagner, Eddie Howe, Marco Silva, Billy Davies, Garry Monk.

I think all of those would do better than Steve Bruce.

Not sure who you think would come. I would rather we went for the Cowleys then say a Pulis or Hughes who are the other likely candidates. We aren’t an attractive proposition at the minute to be fair.

And that’s the point. We may look and think that we are way off where you are, but in reality a cpl of bad seasons and it could be us in League 1. If we go down with a demoralised squad and fan base and no hope (Benitez at least gave us that regardless of individual thoughts on him) and we don’t go back up, you can then easily become either mired in the Championship or sinking even lower.

It would be one of the same old merry-go-round of shite....Hughes, Pulis etc....these people are finished, yet the media will have you believe they can do a good job....

I don't really give a shit who the manager is....the football has been dire for seasons, nowts gonna change that....

I'm from the days before KK as manager, I remember going to the match, players giving their all and hoping for a result, Keegan spoiled us, we now have a breed of fans who expect (I'm not having a go at any NUFC fans on here). We are where we are supposed to be, a mid-table side, I don't let a few years of relative success change what we are....I wouldn't swap the mid 90's, early 2000's but that was us over achieving, not the norm....

A cup run is all I hope for, but they have been few and far between lately....

We are the worst team in the league by far IMO, the manager and the players deserve to go down, the tactics are non-existent and the players (Darlow apart) are so un-interested it's beyond belief....

I used to care when we lost, now I don't give it a second thought....

From being at nearly every home game and a regular at away games since the early 80's, holidays and life revolving around the match to not going and not giving a shit in the last 3-4 years....I really have no feelings if we win or lose....
thats how it got with us, mainly with moyes, but just the continued stupidity, parasite players, short giving us 1m in the championship, then losi g maja, the 2 wembley defeats and getting parkinson as boss was one that was just so obviohs would never work, and rile the fans, a bit like bruce and scteve

Yeah, I've no hope that Charnley will bring in anyone who he hasn't seen as a guest pundit on Soccer Saturday. I've no problem being a midtable side as long as there's something to get excited about. Be it a run at the cups (where we don't go out the minute we face PL opposition), outside chance of Europe, exciting young players coming through, or just good football.

That's modern football for you (and normal age related behaviour)

The last game I was due to attend was postponed (I took that as a sign) and the one before that was during Allardyces reign.

I don't mind watching it down the pub with some mates but hauling my keister up from Leeds once a fortnight, or more, holds about as much appeal as a frontal lobotomy (which may at least sway my feelings I suppose)

Not me like.
I'd much rather the mags went out of business than finish anywhere near the top of the Premier League. I really don't get anyone who wants them to do well.
I couldn't give 2 shits about Boro, they could be Premier League champions or fall into non league and I wouldn't care less.
But then you’d get rid of the Derby? I miss those games, even if it’s awful for my nerves.

You need major financial problems to drop straight through the Championship to L1. That's what did it for us, for all Ashley is not a good football club owner you would be in no danger there.

8 games apiece then they go to wba.

I wonder what fat sam can close the gap to in that period.

Still looked fairly impossible but we pulled it off!
