I wanted us to get absolutely battered last night. As did many others. Anything to speed up the sacking of Bruce. I really think anybody else could do better than him. Looks like he has got no idea how to change it.
Hope we get stuffed off Villa as well. Any sort of good performance, or a draw or win only strengthens Bruce's position.
Two big defeats in the next two games would surely get him out.
It’s getting weird on here. Here’s us wanting The Excuse to scrape the occasional result while you slide slowly into danger while you twats want to get hammered so he gets sacked ASAP.

I mean you’ve hit every square on mag stereotype bingo there like. Full house. Most of what you are saying holds no basis in reality for me personally or the mates I go to matches with. I mean I don’t do twitter etc so I’m aware I miss the probably more fringe sections of fans and what’s spoken about but you’re way off in my experience.
I suspect you might be the fringe rather than the other way around. Take that kid in his bedroom who does the videos - no energy to get his word for word but essentially you don‘t deserve this situation because you love your club more than other fans do. That is the ideology that gives your fans a bad reputation. Not that you deserve to be in Europe etc. but that many fans think you are special.

Just not true in my experience at all.

Yes they're fond of him. But they never worshipped him in the way they do Rafa. Theyd have him back, but none of them are actively wanting him back of throwing his name around like some are with Wenger.

Why? Because Hughton's face doenst fit the imaginary profile they have of their club. Hughton is a decent manager. But thats not enough for Newcastle. They need a manager who has won things (at other clubs) who gives them some prestige.
Its the same reason that they were calling Longstaff, Shelvey and Lascelles were "England material". Not because they actually were, but because having an England player in your side puts you among the big clubs.

The sooner it dawns on them that they are a tip championship/bottom half Premier league team with a big ground the better. Because some of them are just making themselves look stupid now. Theres a fine line between passion and fantasy
Tbf, that's where I'd say Benitez's PR comes into a bit. The bloke has won a Champions League, two league titles, and more.

He quite publicly railed against the owner, told them they deserved more, and got them promoted. Hughton was much more diplomatic, but he also was coming from a position of weakness at the time as I don't think he'd managed before. I think they're just an easy bunch to whip up if I'm being honest. It's like if Lee Johnson had called Donald a wanker after the takeover. It's points scoring in public. We've all lived through Bruce's tenure, and he's the absolute opposite of that, and that's before I discuss his limitations as a manager.

Nah, we're not the fringe. The lunatics you mention often on here are. You can tell they're the fringe because they shout the stupidest things the loudest, when most fans are far more reasonable.

Of course we think we're special, just like fans of every club think that their club is special. The People's club, the West Ham way, the most famous non-league club in the world, and so on. Every fanbase thinks that their club is special. Even yours ;).

I don't doubt there's an element of PR in Benitez' approach. Similar to Mourinho fostering a them against us siege mentality. Benitez finds out what the fans value and plays to it. Same happens with new players to be honest. "52,000 screaming fans" must be a line fed to the new lads by the PR officer. Oh and mention Goal, they love a bit of that.

Bruce's PR works differently, he doesn't know how to appeal to the fans, so he'll cosy up to his pals in the media. They'll tell their audience that he'll make the team hard to beat, they'll get to see some good football, etc. When that doesn't materialise because he's shit, he'll start blaming injuries, the negative fans, then the players. You lot had it in for him from day one because he was a Geordie.... right? Nowt to do with the shit football, it was because he claimed to be a Newcastle fan. Same for us, we're only against him because, 10yrs ago, he managed Sunderland for a few seasons.
