We have the points we do because of a number of things.

1. We have a very good goalkeeper who has done a great job in the absence of Dubravka.

2. We have a committed and well drilled defence and a defensive team working all over the pitch.

3. We score enough goals to win some matches, whether it's a lucky break or a great strike or a decent penalty...etc...etc..

The football can be mind numbing at times and if I'm honest, I hate watching it half the time....but, it's clear the owner and manager's job is to ensure we play premier league football, first and foremost...but the sad thing is, it's the goal of every other owner and manager outside of the elite 6 and a few stray pretenders, in my honest opinion.
1. Correct
2. No we f***ing don't and no we f***ing dont.
3. That's not sustainable.

Just popping in to see if Newcastle fans are still wrong to say Bruce is shit? Or that things were just as bad under Benitez?

Yep, I'm just a hopeful clown and I need to give myself a slap for thinking we'll have a go against a bottom team.
Disgusting.

It was obvious that it would be like that. There's enough evidence to know how it would go. Mad to think otherwise with what we've seen over the past 60 games.
How many times under Bruce could you say we've actually played well? I think maybe 4 or 5

But you've said it's the same as Benitez. It's not, the football under Benitez might not be to everyone's taste but it wasn't shit. It was a well executed plan. This is appaling.
The results are almost identical, Benitez 'plan' was therefore about as effective as Bruce, or are we now not judging teams on league points and finishes?

You can ignore that as fact and refer to the likes of xG & xGA and what not to justify your point, a system that has Villa expecting to score more goals than Manchester City, Brighton to score more than Leicester, Fulham to score more than Southampton, Spurs to concede more than any of Brighton, Arsenal, Fulham and Brighton.

Shame the fans aren't there, be interesting to see how Bruce managed to hold the line that they are only booing him because he's a geordie.

Bruce took over from Rafa and clearly tried to stick with the same tried and tested method that got Rafa by.
But now that’s it’s falling to bits he hasn’t got an alternative to succeed with.
That result last night will be a nightmare to recover from, but they will.
Certainly not in the worst 3 teams in the league, despite the result last night.
Hopefully Bruce boy will blame our connections when he gets the chop.

You somehow under the impression that Sunderland fans don't know Bruce is shit?
Given the staunch defence of him on here, aye, I was under that impression. I was told outright that it's no worse than it was under the previous manager. I was told that Newcastle fans were over reacting when they called him shit. So... yeah, that was the impression I was operating under.

Sorry like, but in an effort to play down Benitez' ability (purely because Newcastle fans rate him, by the way), you're saying that statistically, anecdotally worse football is the same as it was under RB? I've shown that the points don't tell the full story.

We were so lucky (something you read a lot on here) last season. So many games where we'd played badly and somehow, against all logic, have nicked a point or better. The Everton game for example. They were much, much better than us and should have been home and dry with a comfortable 2-0 win, but bizarrely we equalise in the final minutes of the match. That gave us a point, which you're saying is exactly the same as a well-organised, well drilled, hard won point under Benitez against Man City (or whomever). That's revisionist bollocks. You're deliberately twisting reality to fit your prejudice.

Bruce is shit, and much much worse than all but one or two of the Newcastle managers I've endured in nearly 40yrs on this planet. If we're relegated (which is possible), he'll go down as the worst. He just turned up at the worst team in Premier League history, played a passive low block and allowed a winless Sheffield United to play their way confidently to a deserved win. But, sure, he's as bad as Benitez because, reasons.

He’s a shite manager but pretty much the same as Rafa with yous.

When Newcastle lost under Rafa, Ashley got the blame.

When Newcastle lose under Bruce, the manager gets the blame.

Rafa was hailed as performing miracles working under Ashley and even said “it’ll be a miracle if I keep Newcastle in the league”

Bruce gets all the blame for defeats and got ridiculed for saying the other week “this is where Newcastle should be” (or something similar) If Bruce is so shit, surely Rafa must’ve been underachieving, considering their records are similar and working under the same owner.
