The Scots government are considering the same thing now. That’s why I’ve advocated vaccinating school staff as a priority.
A few on here disagreed

I used to be a teacher too. There are too many in the profession who act like this and give teachers a bad name. Do you also think supermarket staff should stop going to work as that’s even more risky than teaching?I’m a teacher. I know most in my place and my large circle of friends who are also teachers have said they also think they should be prioritised.
stop reading the mail and sun big lad. Boris relies on folk like you.
All schools in Scotland move to remote learning for a month, expect Boris to announce the same later tonight, after the schools have closed for the day of course.
if we want and we all do, schools to be open as normal we need all school staff to get the vaccine ASAP. Once staff have had the vaccine social distancing and other risk measures can be reduced and we can get back to som closer to normal n schools, before the rest of the country. This will allow others to continue working either from home or back in the workplace with appropriate social distancing hence keep the economy going.
ne thing that some people don’t understand is that if you are under 18 there is no vaccine, obviously with the effects on children being less than others that is not that much of a health issue for them, however the evidence seems to point to asymptotic children being very good at passing the virus on to others, hence if the staff are vaccinated they are better protected and schools could return to a more normal teaching day.
I agree but getting the teaching and other staff protected will allow them to get back to normal sooner than would otherwise be the case. Things have to run In parallel, getting as many of the at risk groups vaccinated and those who are essential to keep things moving, so that it is safe (safer) to get closer to normal activity, while those at still at risk of catching it are those with the lowest risk factors who are not getting so unwell as to need to go into hospital . So a month, at least full lockdown, to get to that point is essential.the primary reason to shut schools is to slow the spread - vaccinating teachers won’t affect that reasoning.
Really? No mention at all?Just for a bit of balance, I'm in for a training day today. All staff are in and there hasn't been a single mention of school closures or anything related.
One is about their partner who is a he, the other is about their partner who is a she. It's clearly the same person, from some of the details they've posted on here. Not that there's anything wrong with having accounts on more than one forum, even if it's a bit weird when it's for two different football clubs.

Dear Parents and Carers
It was lovely to see so many children back in school today. They have settled back in really well and are working hard.
As school is open to all children at this time, we will not be providing remote learning where families have chosen to keep children at home. While we understand your concerns, we are following government direction to open, and are providing face to face education.
We will continue to provide remote learning where a child is self-isolating due to a Covid case in the family home or if they have had contact with a positive case. Self-isolation must be as a result of instructions from NHS test and trace or school contact-tracing. In the case of NHS test and trace situations, evidence will be required.
Thank you for your support.

So basically if I don't send the bairn in and risk his and my health in the classroom they'll not be providing any educational support at allthey'd rather my son goes into school, potentially contracting Covid to potentially transmit it at home to his mam who could subsequently die - classy, caring bastards.
Nope.
.. My nephew left Unison and joined the other Teacher's Union after they wanted to keep kids off the last time. Have heard others have too.. Glad my youngest kid goes to Venerable Bede. I couldn't praise the staff school enough ..
.. Well done btw..

It seems that it's all parents are talking about. Literally zero speculation?
Go on then. From 9.00 to lunch time literally zero.
Do you want me to say it again?![]()
Yup, I found that generic email a bit snarky, I sent them a really detailed / reasoned one yesterday outlining my reasons for keeping my son off.......Bet you’re looking forward to when Ofsted ask for parent opinions during their next inspection. In my opinion that’s atrocious.
I find that surprising since it’s literally going to happen tonight and has definitely been on the cards. If you work in education I’d have at least thought you’d talk about it but fair play to you. It was one of our main topics of conversation in work today.
