BTW, I know there are mental pressures, but I think Sri Lanka a pretty good place to be right now, barely any cases been had there, they get to quarantine in a lush place, if I have read correctly.

Haven’t got the family aspect some of them have, but as a single lad with no toes I can’t think of anywhere better to be right now than playing cricket with your mates somewhere warm half the world away

But they’d be away anyway

I believe that they are in hotel room from Tuesday then they have access to luxury facilities, unless that’s changed

I honestly think at top level sport, you pick your best team to win the game/series, if that is a bit unfair on Bess, that is just the way it is.

And they thought Bess was better than Ali all summer hence why he was selected. He was toiled away on pitches with little assistance he deserves a go in Sri Lanka. Being honest the squad that has been selected looks poor, I think we will struggle

I think we will be ok, as think Sri Lanka are poor, think we a bit light in our squad agree, but think they worse.

I don’t think Bess is a international bowler myself, nothing against the lad, but the fact his county let him go on loan when they were fighting for the championship speaks volumes for me.

When he did get wickets at first class level it was when Somerset had the wickets strongly favouring the spinners.

It’s not about what’s fair on Bess like

It’s what is best to win a game

Would you pick woakes in Australia just because he tried his best in England?

There’s a mass disrespect in England about Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka

That 3-0 win over there was one of the best in my life time, Australia and South Africa were hammered over there

I think it’ll be a 1-1 draw

Yeah seems canny lad, think he did ok in South Africa as they had a very poor batting side mind, side at the time that South African batting side in that series the worst I have ever seen for them.

Yeah fair enough suppose I do not see Sri Lanka as a good side, but you may be right I am probably not paying them enough respect.

As for the other point and I know we disagree on this but that South Africa batting side in that series was poor, they record coming into that series was terrible and their batting side in that series very poor imo.

I said that at the time I had a bet on England to win when they were 1 0 down at that was more to do with me having the opinion that South Africa were a poor side in that series.

Woakes has proven he isnt up to it in Australia. Bess was preferred to Leach and Ali all summer, I think he should get his chance in Sri Lanka

Only if they think he is the best bowler at the moment to win a test series in Sri Lanka, not just about giving people chances as its fair, that is my only point

I find the treatment of Leach strange like, I know he hasnt been well, but he has done pretty well IMO, and even has batting shows how stuck in he has got.

Well no just giving a honest opinion, was surprised and said so on here when England were getting criticised during the Ashes.

I thought during the Ashes against a brilliant Aussie attack and Smith in awesome form we played really well to draw that series and did not get the credit we deserved.

Imo we played better in the Ashes than in South Africa because we were playing a far superior side.

The South Africa side in that series was the worst South Africa side I can ever remember England playing, and imo that’s why it was downplayed a little

It wasnt that bad. A lot of their squad had been part of wins over Australia and India at home and part of a side that also won in Australia.

Coming into that series think they had lost something like the last 5 or 6 test match series.

I honestly can’t remember a worse South African test side in living memory.
