Finally had a moment to listen to the interview.

Comes across really well, straight-forward answers to questions which is a refreshing change from the corporate/PR blather.

Seems level headed but ambitious and I'm thrilled we're finally going to build around the academy and use our infrastructure to our benefit.

Have reservations about Johnson (have them about every candidate tbf) but if we're going down this route then we need a coach who will get on board 100%, rather than the debacles we've had in the past with people at crossed purposes.

Spot on marra, let's support it

Fair enough and my thoughts also. I have to admit he was at the bottom of my desired choices behind Cook and Cowley but I think I know less about him than the other two. I'm just going to have an open mind and see how it goes.

It does when those boardroom people aren't making football decisions. I'm no fan or Rodwell but giving this fella a chance to run the football side of things should be a success. It's what we've all said should happen for ages

I just truly hope that he does have the remit to make the football decisions and isn’t just a puppet

I've gone back and forth on him and Cowley as they both have pros/cons. Didn't want Cook as he seems a bit old school.

Since it's looking like Johnson i'll focus on the positives as opposed to Cowley. Attacking football, finally! Looking forward to us trying to win rather than hoping not to lose. The willingness to bring young players through is another big plus. Hopefully the new direction may mean we can hold on to the few bright sparks currently around the first team and build an academy that brings them through regular in the long term. Biggest plus of all is is that he's happy with the structure. Someone wanting more control would be getting off on the wrong foot.

Do we think that Johnson will bring his own coaching staff with him or that Speakman is choosing some of the coaches too maybes with the exception of assistant manager?

You can't have an assistant manager to a head coach. Structural changes....

Ah good point, i didnt think that through did I! 🤣.. A first team coach may be below him then, maybes thats what i should have said! Or is he classed as the first team coach? Ah fuck it, can we just go back to having a manager!! 😂

Just idle speculation, but can't help thinking Speakman is the sort of sounding board Jack Ross required.

I know he made his mistakes but I still think Ross is a class act who needed the right support to help when things got choppy. Maybe this new guy (who may be just patter but I don't think so) could have offered that. Pure guesswork but Speakman, if given time, might be what we need.

Looking forward to seeing how things pan out with the new set up, think a lot of people are being negative because of all the shite we've had to put up with on our downward spiral, so I get it, but it's time to tentatively have a bit of optimism, reserve judgement until a few months have passed, and hopefully we can see shoots of a better future on the horizon.
