It's a brilliant interview. I don't know how anyone can watch that and not be at least a little excited about our future.
I'll admit to actually physically punching the air in delight at a few comments.

I know better than to get drawn in by talk again so he will need to put in to action what he's saying, which he acknowledges himself, but it sounds promising at least.

Well we have our intellgient technical person in the club now. Quite simply something that has been missing forever at our club.

As he says himself anyone can talk the talk but delivering said strategy is only thinslg that matters. Exciting change to our club

From the way he spoke it sounds like the new owners are behind all this, obvious if true, but good to hear. No way Donald and Methven would be capable of this sort of plan.

I've no idea why, given the money brought in on the players coming through the system he's built is the only reason they haven't gone bust.
Like who? Bellingham and Gray only ones in last 5 years I can think of.

Redmond and Butland going back a fair bit, pretty sure they would have been in and around the first team when he took over.

Bellingham, Demarai Gray, Che Adams.

Oops, misread your post. He was appointed academy director in 2011. Redmond and Butland were on the fringes, so more when he was an academy coach.

Asked a mate, who's a Blue, who said this: Been around for 15 years, head of youth and academy. Brought a few stars through, Bellingham, Adams, Redmond, etc. My mate Rich who was an U21 coach always spoke very highly of him. Think he'll do well for yous.

Positive.

No fresh ideas on the day we appoint a sporting director with total autonomy over the football side of the club? U ok hun?

Granted my post should have been a bit more haste less speed. I think my point was we still have the same people in the boardroom, and at CEO level - it doesn’t matter who many fancy titles or roles or created when the fundamental issue of SD/CM are remain.

Were in league 1 what do you expect?

You aren't going to get a glittering CV at this level. Johnson is a bit meh but for our level he's an ok appointment.

Every article has said the new owner wanted a sporting director and today we appoint one. You are choosing to believe there is no takeover despite this one significant event

It is. But we could equally do that for Ged McNamee and I don’t think it’d be warmly welcomed if he was named our whole club director of football.

Meh. Not particularly excited by this. See how he gets on in the next year or two.
Well that's the idea like

It does when those boardroom people aren't making football decisions. I'm no fan or Rodwell but giving this fella a chance to run the football side of things should be a success. It's what we've all said should happen for ages
