You have to wonder if they consider cultivating and selling youth talent is a profitable venture. Looking at those names above it has probably put Birmingham City on a stable foundation.
That’s not a bad business model for a L1 and even a championship club. No reason that if we hit the PL we couldn’t change tack and start hanging on to those types of players instead of cashing in.

Means the new “manager” will be a proper head coach type of fella if you ask me. Rules out Cowley and Cook. Suggests more someone along the Johnson/Stendel route.

We've even made a monumental arse of the cashing part of the equation in the past couple of years. But yeah I'd much rather Henderson, Pickford, the centre half at Shef Utd, Maja, Mumba and others I've forgotten were still here playing fo safc.

It's essential for anyone outside the big 6.
It is, of course, it is just in recent years they have sold kids on before they have really made contribution to the first team.

Probably this strategy is much more viable if the club can get to the Championship and are less bound by wage restraints.

I Hooe I'm wrong buy this doesn't look good. 14 years at Birmingham! Hugely underwhelmed. Hope he proves me wrong if appointed

Other than Bellingham who else I'd on this convorbelt of talent that's come out of Birmingham over the last decade?
Compared to the usual tripe we appoint (Rodwell, Parkinson) I’d say this shows some good forward thinking.

Definitely not a Donald type appointment, don’t think this lad has been at Eastleigh/Oxford before...

Someone else coming in too
Reckon they’ll do away with a head of academy now? Just they advertised for the post originally but looking at this sporting directors background I imagine he’ll be involved in the academy too.
